Y’know, I used to think this too. I couldn’t imagine JWong being beast at XvSF. But, here’s some things to remember about him:

  1. He plays at Chinatown Fair, with XvSF GDLK players Omar (aka Sinister Cyclops) and the Jason Wall. Toxy said Jason is greatest in the universe.

  2. Justin’s team(s), Storm/Cyke/Chun are buff in XvSF. In the hands of a smart player, this team can go far.

  3. Come EVO time, Justin is at the top of his game. He’s in the height of turney season, and after EVO still has SBO coming up. He’s super sharp.

I would’ve loved to have beat Justin instead of losing to him in winners AND losers. But when he beat me, then he beat Toxy 6 times in finals and then beat Team Canada (Contra, AZNRetro, CB and Joker) straight through, it became clear he can play XvSF.

Who knows what will happen this year?!

Jason knows his max ranges better than anybody i’ve played in that game.
Seriously, he makes Scott Summers look GOOD, real talk.
Omar has the nastiest rogue and gambit I’ve ever seen and can rock you while getting NICE with half the cast.
Fan-freakin-tastic players.
From playing J Wong I can say that his principal strength is his adaptability. He learns really, really quick, so unless you play a really deep game, you MIGHT get beasted.
Esp. if you don’t know your Storm well.
But if you know Storm v. Storm and your Owhoreo is nice,
IMO both his teams = weak, because he’s gonna want to counter out Storm if she’s low on health and you haven’t merked her. Both Cyke and Chun’s counters = free character vs Storm.
If you aren’t using Storm against Jwong’s team,
then uhh
magically transform into LMX and own that.

but real talk LMX vs Justin Wong my money = LMX all day yo,

if Me Retro Joker and LMX all reach evo we’ll do Canada v. USA 4v4 on Supergun,

You know, I used to really doubt online play. I always felt that true pay-to-play experience at an actual arcade trumped the casual atmosphere of PC players. But in the last few years, with the emergence of Canadian players, and Magneto Maniac beating Wong, it shows that PC play actually leveled up the gameplay of games that would die in arcades.

I give you PC guys a lot of credit for keeping XvSF alive, and taking the game to new levels. Most of you guys do expert level combos like it’s nothing. Much respect. Especially you darkaddictz/kaillera/ggpo guys. I think that is the next level of this dying game. Sure, hundreds of people aren’t playing it, but those that still are are FUCKIN’ good!
