I do believe it’s the same voice actor. The crack shoot and power geyser lines are clearly new lines and they’re pretty distinctly Terry, so if it’s not him that guy did a great job. Really I think it’s just that maybe he didn’t get a lot of takes in or maybe he just wasn’t super into it that day. Some lines sound great and others not so much. I question the recording session more than I question the voice actor.
are lobbies down for anyone else? I really wanted to play the 3 new characters in actual matches, random ranked matches against chinese people on the other side of the world just isn’t cutting it.
It’s the same voice actors and the same sound files too, except for a few counted moves which vary, I only heard one move from Terry with a voice done by a chinese voice actor, can’t remember which one but it’s obvious that the voice is different.
So I’ve been testing stuff with king because I think he’s a real solid character. I think his zoning is really good, he can cancel his normal fireball into his super fireball, and you can adjust the speeds so you can catch people hopping over or trying to roll through them. He can also cancel his red fireball into his hurricane kick super. I haven’t been able to cancel the red into fireball super, and I tried it for quite a bit. His also has solid normals and decent bnbs. He can cancel his C chain into any command normal or special. Also he also has a lot of classic Ryu stuff. His jumping command normal is the Ryu fist pump and you can get a fireball off or the fireball super if you catch them air to air. Crossup tatsu is in this game, and if you land the fireball super after it, it acts really funny and drops them right before the last hit, and it becomes a slow moving Yoga inferno, so you can easily run around and use it for oki.
You can also link the db+A command normal into the db+B command normal. C command chain can also be canceled on whiff into regular fireballs or tatsu (and even shoryuken but i noticed that the timing to cancel the second punch is much tigher than canceling it on the 3rd where he says something), so you can use it to advance and fake out opponents if you like. The chain also can be canceled into command normals, so you can sneak in a db+B poke into special if you see them standing if you want.
King’s the most fun I’ve had with Shotos, it helps that he feels quicker.
I really need to figure out my controller crap though. Even though I have it mapped on the actual game, still not registering. And I can’t use Xpadder without losing sound.
Ok to show you guys what the Shinkuu Hadouken bug with King is I uploaded it. It actually seems pretty useful. I could land the normal super into the slow fireball on all the characters I tried but some are just tighter timing because it seems their big bodies manage to eat up all the hits, while some characters somehow miss a hit and it keeps going at a reduced speed. Though it manages to work pretty much all the time if you go into Max mode (also what is it called in this game?). Here’s an example of it working with and without Max mode.
edit: I also need to see if I can hit them with the Max version, because they might be in a juggleable state, I need to check.
