Xuandou Zhiwang, Chinese Free to Play fighting game (Currently in closed beta)

hahaha I’m curious about the details, if possible.

Really I’m not sure what their direction was when it came to character design. On one hand you have legitimately unique characters like Wy Xie, CoolB, and Ameth who don’t seem to derive much of anything from an existing character by an established fighting game dev and then there are characters like Sheva, Kaoru, and Arashi that are so blatant it burns. Then there are characters who straddle the middle like Brazel and Ray who have moves and animations inspired by other characters but otherwise seem somewhat different design-wise.

Dude, what. Wy Xie has ALL of Yun and Yang’s normals, some of their specials, specials from the Kim twins from Garou, and Lee Rekka’s dive kick from Last Blade. Ameth is O. Shermie and O. Yashiro with more fireballs and traps, and she has Iori’s sweep. CoolB is probably a ripoff of someone, I just don’t know who. Also, all of Brazel’s normals are a mix of Iori’s and Ks normals, and his specials are pretty much Ks specials. Not exactly different or unique designs.

-Combo-wise, think Benimaru. Three cr.Bs xx dp+D or cr.B cr.B qcf+K. Optimal meterless is cl.D hcb+K.
-His cr.A, cl.D link feels much easier than normal.
-Aside from a few changes, his normals are identical. st.B and st.D are walls, far C looks a little different but it serves the same purpose, his sweep and cr.B are the same. j.D looks odd but it’s the same in principle, j.CD is the good downward double kick, but j.C looks like it has a further reach to it since Sheva sticks his arm out (though Beni j.C has always had a secret top tier tiny hurtbox stashed away behind his hitbox). cr.C looks more like an uppercut. Also his st.CD is XIII st.CD, so it has a real use.
-His specials/DMs are almost 1:1, though the command grab spacing on hit is different. They even made cr.B cr.B qcf,qcf+P combo exclusively from the SDM version. The DPs seem to work the same way, so whiffing dp+B will be hard to punish in every instance.
-hop j.C cancels into air Raijinken. You no longer are restricted to height or needing a jump.
-He doesn’t have an airthrow, though.

Gotcha. Was kinda curious to see how closely XDZW’s cast emulate their inspiration aside from animations especially in Sheva’s case.

Oh good, they’re FINALLY going to start working on the guitar players. They only revealed those dudes like a year ago, yeesh. Also, where did you find those pictures?

I know this game has singles and teams with singles being popular for time but i think that’ll change one the rooster is filled and become the default…though I hope single isn’t fully ignored.

Well, if they’re just going crazy with characters that have heavy Western-appeal. Bring on the Predator-rip off character.

I wouldn’t mind an MK cyborg. That would be pretty sweet.
