how’s the black finish? It doesn’t look like paint, but more of a melamine kind of finish on it… it doesn’t look like a mirror finish type of job, but how’s the quality? Any close up pics?
Where did you get the art done and customized for the marquee and move list? Did you just cover up the speaker holes with the move list? Did they provide you an artwork template?
Can the control panel artwork be customized?
What TV are you using? Does the TV fit in the ‘hole’ without any major gaps along the outside?
The Cab was ordered first, then a month later I ordered the Controller part, it was $299.99 at the time, it is currently back ordered till July something I believe.
switching out the counter top with the control is as simple as removing 4 screws that hold it in place and swapping out the part.
The black finish is comparable to the old school American standup cabs. it has a nice familiar look/feel to it (it’s not paint).
the cab is very sturdy, and wont budge while intensive 2 player action!
also since the plexiglass is die-cut, it has a very sharp edge to it, it kind of hurts your arm after resting it on the ledge for a while, I took a piece of sandpaper to lightly rough out the sharp edge a little all round.
Yes, those are the ones I am referring too, iv read they feel very soft, but I also have reason to believe the default ones are more then 50g maybe 100g, they are sooo stiff.
I did the art myself, then printed it on a bigHP design jet 500we have at work.
the move list I found somewhere online and just adjusted the size to fit the speaker area.
As for the template, if you look hard enough you can find it somewhere on their site. the template pack includes the marquee and sides of the arcade (however I have not printed those out yet because that would require a roll of adhesive vinyl paper).
by removing all the components and removing the plexiglass, you would be able to swap out the artwork, I believe it’s just a large sheet of no adhesive paper.
I don’t believe they offer a customization option yet, except the 3 colors option.
it’s an Emerson 32 inch TV (don’t remember what model) it has very good response, and no noticeable lag for casual play, yes there are noticeable gaps around the edges and top/bottom, that’s why I printed out the bezel, make it less noticeable.
EDIT: when selecting a tv it is better for it to have the hdmi/video/audio inputs on the bottom (sticking down) for better access, that’s why I had to have the tv mounted so low to be able to connect the hdmi cable, my tv has the inputs on the back (sticking straight out) so the mount plate covers them.
