Hey, I’ve been lurking in this thread for a while. I just received my adapter today and it seems to work fine with a Hori EX2. Unfortunately, Vista doesn’t detect it so I can’t run that input lag tester linked above.
Dude…that sucks. Any way you can test it at a friends house? Oh, and did you get the XCM Cross Battle or the Cross Battle Plus?
RAWR!!! Its all backards!!! What The Fuck happened to the PS3 controller to 360 they were supposed to be workin on?
Sadly, I’m stuck with the old one. I literally just received it in the mail the day that they announce the version with rumble.
According to this review, it does something with the USB such that Windows will not recognize it… and I’m just not expert enough to actually find another way to test it.
I only have SF Alpha and Tekken 5 on PS3, and I’m far from any kind of expert player, but it seems okay. But it could be that I’m just not noticing the lag because it’s imperceptible to a casual player like me. That, and I’m primarily using this for FPSes… although, I’m finding that to be problematic for an entirely different reason (R1 vs R2 for firing).
So what you’re saying is that, the EX2 has lag because it’s digital only, but because the TE stick has digital AND analog, it theoretically works? Not that you’d need to flip the switch to Left Stick, but you could leave it on DPad and it would work fine? Just having the option alone makes it work? I’m not sure of the inner workings of the TE stick. So, the Hori EX2 stick itself registers in the system as a standard DPad… where the TE stick has the option to pick whether you want the left stick, dpad, or right stick to be what you control.
So the converter views the EX2 as an incomplete controller cause it lacks potential analog stick input? And the reason the TE stick might work with it is cause it’s a full controller, and the dipswitch only changes what you control at the time? Or is there a difference between digital and analog PCBs versus the TE stick?
I’m not trying to sound like a smartass, (it kinda does on my end) I’m asking a real question. I’m not tech savvy at all about this stuff, but I really want to get into the tournament scene and I’m gonna need a 360->PS3 converter. Just want to be sure I understand what you’re saying. I bought a MadCatz TE stick for 360 and it works like a charm. Reading through these posts, I’m not sure if the real question is if this converter will work with custom sticks and/or ex2, or if it will work with anything. Seems like it’s common knowledge that it works with a TE stick from what you said. If so, I’ll order one tomorrow.
I’d hold off.
Wait until someone actually tests it.
It theoretically should work fine with the TE stick, but yeah, you should probably hold off on it until someone actually tests it.
With a TE stick and with $40, you might just be better off throwing a Cthulhu PCB in there instead, though…
I used this on day one with my TE stick on SFIV and it glitched out on 4 occasions. Maybe I have a faulty one, I dunno. I’d be in training or even online when all of a sudden control would cease to work, my character would get stuck going in one direction. Buttons wouldn’t work, but if I held down the Xbox button I could access the XMB switch system/controller off screen where I would remain until re-inserting the stick at the USB slot.
Anyone else had this problem?
really hoping a review of this is coming soon. Hoolak, do you have the new upgraded one or the older one?
The one without rumble. It’s blue. So, the old one?
Oh ok, hopefully the one Markman might receive is the new one black one.
You need to turn off the “auto turn off controller” or something, what happens is that the ps3 turn off the controller after 15 minutes I believe, hope it helps
I’m still debating if I should buy the new one (Rumble) or not. Just realized that HDR/SF4 at EVO will be on PS3 so I pretty screwed. Since my sticks aiab were for X360. Now I wish I got the dual option. The old one (Blue) never was responsive on the PS3 as i hoped. But that was for HDR. I’m going to test the old adapter with SF4 (PS3) at a friends house Monday. Hopefully I can give a decent review for everyone.
Peace
I really hope the new version of this thing works. Local tournies are gonna start happening here and they will most likely be using PS3s. I’m screwed if there’s no usable converter out there.
are there any adaptors that would let you use a ps3 controller on xbox360? or change a usb to a psx port?
So I just received the XCM Cross Battle Adapter last night and tested it with my Hori Real Arcade Pro EX (360 stick) with SF4 on ps3 and I have to say there was a VERY noticable lag. Almost a full second between when I’d hit a button and something would happen on screen. This went for both the game and in the PS Menu (xmb or is it xbm). I was testing the original Cross Battle (blue) and my PS3 is the 80gig Metal Gear Solid edition so I’m not sure if this is just an issue with my model of ps3. But right now I’d say hold off on this one until you here a glowing review from someone else on this board cause what I have in my hands is unsable. Hopefully the newer black converter works better.
I just got my XCM Cross Battle Adapter Plus today. I’ll do a test tonight and let you guys know how it works with my xbox 360 SF4 TE joystick. I’m a casual player so don’t expect anything as comprehensive and authoritative as a Markman review.
polarbr
rob’s review was a little dissapointing =(.
anxiously awaits misc128’s experience
Please note, I only got to spend about 30 minutes last night with the Battle Cross Adapter Plus and the SF4TE stick. As my first test, I did some Dhalism and Bison’s hard trial challenges. I was able to pull off the combos in roughly the same number of attempts I do with my Hori Fighting stick. Next, I played a few games online and noticed some lag. The only problem is, I couldn’t distinguish if it was lag due to the adapter or due to connection. I’ll test again tonight when my wife isn’t surfing the web. Sorry I don’t have anything more comprehensive but I’ll keep testing it during the week and post updates. I wish I had more time to test but fatherhood limits my gaming time. If there’s any specific test you guys want me to try, let me know.

I think this program detects lag and whatnot, how to use it is posted on the second link. Though, I’ve heard certain people not being able to use it because of Vista.
