Xbox Ultimate Game Sale Woes

My apologies if this is the wrong place to ask this question, as it’s been a very long time since I’ve been active here.  Anyway, Microsoft is currently offering discounts on dozens of games for its yearly Xbox Ultimate Game Sale.  Some games are available at reduced prices for the entire week, like Dirt and El Shaddai, but the remainder are offered for just one day, and generally arranged by theme.  One day of the sale had Assassin’s Creed and its sequels, another had all the Call of Duty titles, and so on in that fashion.<div><br></div><div>Microsoft’s Larry Hyrb claims the company will offer fighting games in this sale, although he hasn’t specified when this will happen… just what will be available.  However, with just two days to go, it will have to be soon.  Here’s the list:</div><div><br></div><div><span style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”>Mortal Kombat </span><br style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”><span style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”>Mortal Kombat vs. DCU </span><br></div><div><span style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”>Street Fighter IV </span><br style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”><span style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”>Street Fighter X Tekken </span><br style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”><span style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”>Super Streetfighter IV Arcade Edition </span><span style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”><br></span></div><div><span style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”>Tekken 6 </span><br style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”><span style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”>Tekken Tag Tournament 2 </span><br style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”><span style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”>The King of Fighters XIII </span><span style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”><br></span></div><div><span style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”>Virtua Fighter 5 </span><span style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”><br></span></div><div><span style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”><br></span></div><div><span style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”>Here’s my dilemma.  I don’t have a lot of money to spend, and the discounts aren’t very deep, generally limited to 50% off.  Chances are I’ll have to settle for just one of the above games, and possibly El Shaddai or Dirt.  I either own most of the games on this list, or have no interest in them.  That just leaves King of Fighters XIII and Street Fighter X Tekken, both of which I want very badly.  </span></div><div><span style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”><br></span></div><div><span style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”>Which of these would you personally recommend?  I really enjoyed the Street Fighter IV games, owning four different versions for multiple systems.  However, I’m worried that the inclusion of Tekken characters and the tag-team action will change the gameplay enough to throw off my groove.  I did NOT enjoy King of Fighters XII, but am a huge fan of the KOF series and hoped that XIII would be a more fully realized game, unlike its obviously unfinished predecessor.  What do you think would be the best game for me?</span></div><div><span style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”><br></span></div><div><span style=“color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);”>Thanks in advance for your advice!</span></div>

Who am I to tell you what video game to buy? Just pick what interests you the most.

I’d pick TTT2. It’s pretty fun and the most expensive out of all of those, so take advantage of the discount while you can.

Thanks for the suggestion.  There’s just one problem… I’m not a fan of Tekken, which is one of the things that’s keeping me from pulling the trigger on a Street Fighter X Tekken purchase. The gem play mechanic might be a sticking point for me as well, but I suppose I tolerated it well enough in Marvel Super Heroes (good lord, how long has it been since THAT was released?).<div style=“font-style: normal;”><br></div><div>I suppose the deciding factor for me would be how close to Street Fighter that SFxT plays.  If it’s just tag-team Street Fighter IV with Tekken characters, that would go a long way toward sealing the deal.  Then again, I <i>do</i> love King of Fighters, and really want to see SNK do the series justice after the disappointing XII.  Like I said, it’s a tough decision.</div>

Between Strekken and KOF I’d definitely go with KOF then. Fucking great game, just terrible netcode.

Thanks!  Netcode’s not an issue… I don’t have Xbox Live Gold, don’t play online, and frequently get creamed when I do.  All right, KOF XIII it is then.

Check the forum rules bro.<br><br>"* Threads asking us to decide something for you do not belong here."

Sorry, didn’t know that was a rule.  (Oddly specific…)

<br> :) Yeah, it’s meant to deliberately and exactly preclude this kind of thread which is of kind of low value to you (you should know your mind and style better than you can explain briefly) and typically low value to history and everybody else.  Either flip a coin or make up your mind.
