I think they’re trying to do away with discs. They’re basically forcing you to turn your physical media into digital, rendering the disc useless…at least at launch. Eventually they will allow you to trade or sell your game but only one time. Then you have to make the decision, do I want to loan this game to my friend or sell it to him? Once you do, that’s that, the game is now your friends forever. Unless he pays a retailer a fee.
The saddest part about this (which is basically true) is that the system only has a 500 gig harddrive. non swappable. get your usb 3.0 hdd’s ready.
about the always online stuff… i was wondering how they are saying you will need to check in once ever 24 hours, but they are also saying that their lower specs are because they will be expecting developers to use cloud computations to pick up the slack. if you are expecting the cloud to improve your games, then what is the result for genuine offline playing? a super shitty experience?
Hence why it’s actually always on. Saying otherwise is PR Spin.

Eww the HDD isn’t swap-able either? Is there anything about the XB1 that makes things easier instead of harder??
Its a lot easier to accidentally turn it on.

The combat engine is WAY outdated, so I’ve got no ‘hopes’ but the announcement itself is pretty big IMO.
