We got Vaquish, Dead Rising 2 Case Zero, Game Feast titles, Sonic Adventure for 800 points on Sept. 15th, Space Invaders Infinity Gene, and a new long overdue controller redesign to talk about. So end the system wars shenaningans right here and right now.
Resume wars when kinect and move are out. ;-p

It looks… kinda strange to me. I don’t understand how it works. I mean, if you rotate the dpad 90 degrees to change the style, what happens when you use it to do QCF?

As much as I love Live and I do believe it delivers a superior online experience, I admit that this is a valid gripe.
It’s a minor thing, but it pisses me off that the Xbox defaults to “What’s hot” or whatever it is with those irritating ads rather than “My Xbox”. If MS made this change alone, I’d be happy, but the truth is that there shouldn’t be any ads at all on a service that I’m paying for. I think it would be ok if there were ads displayed for Silver members, but not for Gold.
I despise ads, and will gladly pay extra for something just to be free of them. XM radio, Netflix, etc, I pay their fees not only for their content, but for the fact that there are no ads getting between me and the content I want. The same should go for Live. They already have revenue from their members, and subjecting them to ads for increased revenue is ethically questionable.
Yeah, them throwing in ads is very irritating. As well - with my comment - it wasn’t aimed at PS3 - it was more twoards the 360, I was specifying reasons why they feel they can get away with a price hike.
shrug I got both systems (though my PS3 gets no real PT since all my folks are on 360).

Actually this is why they can get away with increasing it $10, they know people will buy it regardless. They make crazy revenue off of the $50, along with selling ad space, people buying stuff off the marketplace, developers paying to put stuff in the marketplace, selling games, consoles, controls, etc.

They can afford not to raise it $10. They could make it cheaper if they wanted to and still see a lot of revenue. This is just them noticing that the demand won’t drop significantly if they charged more.
And it’s not even like these are dedicated servers you’re paying for, you’re paying for P2P which PC and PS3 users enjoy for free.

Meh, I’ve despised the d-pad on the stock 360 controller since day one. Fighters and puzzle games are unplayable with that thing. I normally use one of the SFIV fight pads just to play Puzzle fighter or Lumines, and I feel the redesigned d-pad is long overdue, but that price point blows. I don’t like using the play-and-charge kits, I just stick to alkalines, they last longer.
Regardless, I’m sure I’ll probably pick up one just to be able to play puzzle games without having to switch controllers out.
Well how much is a brand new wireless controller…its like 50-60 bux right?
Play n charge kit is like 20-30 in itself…
so 65 bux - while not cheap…is less than normal retail…

Exactly right here. I’ve heard that there are annoying ads on Xbox live, if that’s true and I’m having to pay 10 extra $ for it, I better not get any ads at all. I already know that I’m cheap, but I have been out of work for a couple of years and I’ve found it hard to get any money at all sometimes. It doesn’t feel good to still have your mama pay for your haircuts when you’re a grown man. That’s how damn broke I am. If I had an Xbox I would most likely just have it for single-player games since the games that interest me most are Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Mass Effects 1 & 2, Halo 3, and Alan Wake. Only one of those games has online competitive multiplayer. So if I’m already paying $50 a year just to play one game online, then I mind as well drop the service altogether, especially when they announce that they’re increasing the fee by $10.
Can’t believe people are crying over 10 more bucks a YEAR! Its 0.03 cents a DAY! Drop the McD’s for a night and you’ll have your $10. Its not like you can’t buy some 12 months cards now for ~50 bucks, or take up M$ offer to renew now for $50…
You know, with an increased price tag for live maybe we’ll see a decrease in timmys. One can hope.

Is the Xbox360 S any better at avoiding red lights/ring/dot of death than the old Xbox360? My Xbox360 Elite just died on me for the 2nd time and I’m tired of this bullshit. Probably gonna get it fixed then sell it and pick a S up if so.

The boss is kind of easy but it’s one of the most epic and intense boss fights in a 3d game IMO.
