I think it was in this game where you could ‘energy transfer’ right? Like you could take a full level 1 meter and transfer it into the level 3 part of the guage for partial credit right?
If so, did anyone ever play against Sabertooth? Holy shit. He had a L3 which was a fat life healing super. He could heal 3-4 times a round, easily if managed properly. That was pretty game breaking when we played. Of course there was just so much busted shit in there. Mystique had something overtly overpowered too…
Yeah, I talked about this game when it first came out, and I think I still have a few videos. The two most broken characters, IMO, were Nightcrawler and indeed Sabertooth.
Sabertooth had the freakin’ healing which was pretty broken.
Mystique had the air throw into the 2nd level super which just those two did 60% or something like that. Tact on a few air juggles and she was almost a touch of death on contact.
Nightcrawler had the true ‘touch of death’ factor, where if he hit you once, that was it. He had an infinite relaunch which was VERY easy to do and an aerial move that was multi-hitting and you had to block the opposite way when he crossed you over with it. Add in that he could teleport immediately where you are and attack, makes for a pretty broken character. He also had a 4th level super glitch where he keeps you in his ‘world’ forever until time runs out. Its sort of like watching wolverine in XvsSF.
Storm had an infinite, Blob had an infinite…Yeah…the game was pretty broken, but it was fun tho
actually the strongest character in this game is cyclops he has the craziest infinity and combos he can keep you in his optic blast for ever and he has too strong distance attacks , also nightcrawlers level 4 attack which transform him into another dimension if he uses that then you just cant counter him at all .
ye sabretooth got glitches too , when you miss an attack with sabretooth sometimes your oponnent is affected by it .
by the way also what i love about x-men next dimension is the counter attacks, i mean each character got a different counter for a different move that you make .
i found the game to be a combination between street fighters gameplay … bloody roar amazing ass combos … ans the fight felt very free like in dead or alive only in x-men next dimension it wasnt based that much on button mashing … the AI is very hard if you put it on high level it will kick your ass like the SNK bosses , this game came out in 2002 and i still enjoy it as hell
well as much as i would like to see another one … i really dont think so because activision went for the rpg games with all the super hero concept, after the huge success of both x-men legends and x-men legends 2…and now they released marvel ultimate alliance, i really doubt if they ever make another 1 vs 1 fighting game … they will continue to milk the rpg market.
but who knows … lets wait and see
Hmmm…what was Cyclop’s infinite? One thing with nightcrawler I love is that vs. the beam folks, one teleport on top of a beaming character and pow, GGPO.
I remember Storm had a tricky infinite…I’ll play it again tonight to see if I can work it out again. Also, which platform are you playing it on? The Xbox version has the glitch where if you constantly hold up while juggling, it reset the combo meter and allows for a relaunch…I’ll see if I can get some videos together.
i am playing on the ps2 , by the way one of my friends got a problem , he bought copy of the game and theres the story mode, arcade mode, survivor mode, and practice mode … but there is no time attack mode and there is no team mode … how can that be? and when he entered the chead code which unlock everything in the game he only got 4 costumes for each character … anyone knows?
Anyhoo, yeah, Storm’s infinite: b+HP, dash, repeat. Guess it wasn’t that complicated. So Storm’s pretty broken too, one hit and you’re dead without her needing supers.
ye storm is a top tier also , the character that anoyes me the most is rogue…i just hate that life absurbing move when she absurbs your life to herself
this game was fun for like the first few hours that I got it. Brought it over to a friends house, and LITERALLY MINUTES while playing the game in practice mode, I found a Psylocke infinite that I went on to own my friends with after they learned their character. There was no way around that infinite and people just quit. The game got picked up pretty quickly, then just DROPPED. We didn’t even boot it the next day.
My friends and I spent a good bit of time with mutant academy 2, only because you could play as prof. X, we would have cripple on cripple fights. wheelchair combat! Really the only thing we liked about the game. They couldn’t have not been making fun of him. He even had a kick by wheeling his legs up at you, that had to be a joke.
Lol ye i remember mutant academy 2 , i used to play with proffesor x as well he was really fun, i also loved to play with spider-man, you should try this game out if you liked mutant academy because ND is an improved mutant academy , in next dimension they have balanced alittle bit more the characters, in mutant academy cyclops was rediciously strong , also was beast… not only he was very agile and had crazy ass combos but also his hits were very strong, funny thing is that they took the weak haracters from the comics and made them strong in the game, beast, sabretooth, toad… are always get there ass kicked in the comics but in the game they are major bad asses
