I think Deadpool will get into the launch roster. He’s been the one character Marvel’s been extremely lenient on with this boycott.

[*] His presence in the comics has only expanded; he now has his own sub-line of comics with a specific Deadpool editor like Avengers, Spider-Man, X-Men, etc… do
[*] Marvel’s outright using the movie version of Nega Sonic in the comics (I think the only other movie/show synergy this blatant was the Agents of SHIELD series)
[*] Marvel seems to like the Deadpool movie more than the X-Men movies. They slightly marketed it on their websites last February by having a lot of Deadpool themed content. The DP comics at the time referenced it too
[*] He’s becoming really popular in Japan. Several Japanese toy lines (Revoltech, Nendoroid & Figma) have made/are making Deadpool figures based on the comic design, their only other Marvel figures are MCU designs (besides Revoltech who are also doing comic Spidey/Venom).
Whether he’ll be in the game’s marketing is debatable, but this happened recently. It’s obviously not irrefutable evidence but it’s very interesting, especially since this is Disney’s website.
You can’t deny Captain Marvel’s ‘fire-up/binary’ is very similar in looks to ‘Phoenix/fire-up’ mode? I think its even the same voice actress? I highly doubt they ll have both.
Prob unrelated but XM studios were creating an X-men vs sentinel diorama statue with Rogue, Gambit, Nightcrawler, Jubilee, Colossus & Archangel - its was practically finished when Marvel decided that they didn’t want Rogue, Gambit & Nightcrawler to be used. So Rogue was replaced by Beast. Gambit was replaced by Bishop & Nightcrawler was replaced by Psylocke - Seems like they wanted to push those 3 characters instead… We ll probably never know why Marvel makes these decisions but goes to show you can’t predict their choices…
Wrong on both counts, the Binary thing doesn’t work like the Phoenix transformation and Captain Marvel in Infinite is voiced by Grey Delisle, not Jennifer Hale.
I think Gambit actually has a very good chance. Mega Man X practically headlining the game and X-MEN being all but confirmed through leaks and more positive statements than anticipated by Marvel regarding them, says the the process is a different animal. I feel like they’ll be two polarized priorities the game’s development will have, making the game exciting and appealing with regards to what people actually want (game modes, fan-popular character choices, etc) and Marvel’s general promotion goals. I feel things like the struggling sales of SFV creating a need and want for Capcom to hit the mark from day 1 with MVC, the incoming Marvel head of games’ likely desire to ensure a few positive marks at the beginning of his term saleswise, and having head developers who worked on the old VS series games around, who likely have more pull in Capcom, will likely push for some character additions they want or feel will be exciting for fans to see, and will be working on a Marvel/Capcom team that is stated to be more cooperative than last time all help.
I think all these factors favor characters who had a VERY high profile among fans in terms of popularity the last time around. This may not extend to all top voted characters, but I do feel the one’s who performed particularly well on those polls (characters like Gambit, Venom, etc) will get looked upon a little bit closer this time around. I also get a bit of a feeling the game may throw back to MVC1 in some respects (which favors Gambit). I wouldn’t be surprised if the roster shaked up in ways people don’t expect.
Plus, I think the Gambit movie being all but canceled and FOX moving away from core X-MEN in the film universe helps his chances; being now less likely to appear in any of the films.
There is no wait and see. Danvors in her Binary form functions nothing like the Phoenix at all. Carol absorbs energy and releases it. Her Binary form at present is not as strong as when it was first introduced. Even then her power was not comparable to Phoenix. What we see from the game Carol goes Binary in her supers. It’s not an install like it is for Jean.
I’m saying we ll have to agree to disagree and see whether she makes it.
I was always taking ‘visually’ I know the moves/powers are completely different and if she was in the game capcom would make sure they were different enough. I m just saying from that announcement trailer Carols ‘binary fire up’ is in my eyes far too similar to Jean’s ‘Phoenix’. I therefore doubt she ll be in the xmen cast.
The polls on gaming sites are only a third of Marvel’s fanbase. You have to consider comic fans and casual fans so Venom is good for all three, Cyke is, Jean is, etc.
Gambit isn’t, Psylocke isn’t.
And thinking Jean won’t make it in, sorry if any X-Men DLC happens she will be following up the big names as soon as possible. Her and Storm are still Marvel’s most popular females overall even if they can’t do movies about them.
To be honest, I wouldn’t mind getting a Phoenix **without **the Dark Phoenix gimmick. At worst, she could probably access the transformation through one of the effects of an Infinity Gem or something.
I always felt Phoenix was solid enough as she was, but unable to be used on point because a simple sneeze would KO her.

In the screenshot you provided Carol is being powered by a Infinite Gem. She’s not in her Binary form in the announcement trailer.

If this dlc thing is really happening, I would put money on: Magneto, Storm, some form of Logan, and some form of Laura being in the lineup. The rest can go any which way. We could see: Cyclops, Phoenix, Cyclops AS Phoenix (as per Secret Wars), Iceman, Cable, Gambit, Nightcrawler, Apocalypse, Emma Frost, or even something surprising. Since Marvel seems to be including X-men to please fans, you can’t really rule out any one that you’d expect a random movie-goer to recognize.
