X-MEN : Days of Future Past Thread

U forgot some text there, J

DoFP and Cap 2 are different-feeling movies, honestly. I enjoyed the hell out of them both, but for different reasons.

DoFP is an emotionally laden movie with some really great acting performances and scenes, but with a slightly messy story. The great bits are greater than Cap 2 (nothing in Cap 2 got me engaged on the level of the Quicksilver bits or the bit with all the cameras midway through), but the dumb bits are dumber.

Cap 2 is a tight, shooty-punchy action romp. It feels more old-school Lucas, actually… A fun adventure above all else. It’s just solid through and through. Not without its share of dumb, but less than a time-traveling plot is honestly bound to have. Loved it, I think it’s in the high tier of Marvel flicks, but I can’t honestly say it’s superior to DoFP.

John Byrne speaks out about the issue of being offered a cameo in DOFP and working with Chris Claremont…
FYI, Byrne co plotted and pencilled the story with Claremont scripting, and Terry Austin on inks

John Byrne on the genesis of the DOFP comic story…

Just saw the movie. I’m pretty sure it was discussed, but don’t want to sift through 12 pages of info.

If Mystique was the reason for the sentinel’s upgrade and she essentially died/was imprisoned after killing Trask, how is she in X1-X3? They’re all tied together, so how would those movies have her in them?

She wasn’t killed, she was just experimented on and captured. She escaped later.

X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Extended Edition on the Way

best X-men movie ever

Chick that could create portals should have used them to make the sentinels kill themselves, or place the portals so close enough that when one goes through they just get stuck in a infinite teleport loop with no exit.

Mystique stole the show, Jennifer Lawrence was a complete badass, did she have a stunt double to do all the martial arts (if so who was she?)

Mags was a baoss, and Quicksilver was surprisingly not cheesy at all.

12a rating really hampers Wolverine being Wolverine, the Origins movie is the closest we’ll get to see him really fuck people up.

Yea but at least with Wolverine they released the R rated directors cut so the movie ceased being shit and was actually pretty good. I wonder if DoFP will get the same treatment because there was a lot of Xavier moments where they could have made scenes awesome if not for pg 13 restrictions

Play the X-Men Origins: Wolverine game from a few years ago, you’ll get to see him fuck plenty of people up. The game is pretty much God of War: Wolverine Edition but it’s pretty fun and really violent.

The game was surprisingly legit for a movie game. Did not regret that purchase at all even though I sold it after I was done.

From what I remember it wasn’t all that different, you just had the odd sliced limb being flying across the screen, I was expecting to see a lot more close ups and blood, Wolverine needs to lay waste to people as if he was starring in the Raid 2.

Never played it, sounds great

I am glad I bought a new copy for PS3 last year for like $20. Good thing because prices were rising everywhere. And then Marvel started pulling off titles from digital stores. Phew.

that game made the movie fail in my eyes. I went in hoping to see Wolverine just carve his way through hundreds of dude’s. He’s supposed to be the best he is at what he does, and what he does ain’t pretty.

I kept hoping to see that chopper explosion into freefall into megaton skewer into regen from the game, in the movie. That game was legit 100000% better than the movie.

Just saw it today. IDK why everyone likes it. It was a crappy flick.

[details=Spoiler]Way too many mutants (Sunspot had no lines, Storm had only one line, basically just cameos).
Was hoping for more focus on Bishop.
Way too many liberties with adding secondary powers.
Kitty can time travel other people? Yeah whatevs.
Why not just have future Beast create a time machine or something?
Way too much focus on Mystique. Just cuz she’s the “hot thing right now”?
And her DNA being used to advance Sentinel technology was a BS plot point.
Why not have Rogue’s DNA being used? Would have made more sense.
Quicksilver was dope though.[/details]

rogues dna wouldnt make sense for the most part she has no control over the abilities til super recently. whereas mystique has always had full control.

they already took liberties with second mutations in first class…they just continued with it. they didnt do anything that first class didnt do first.

not that many mutants imo…they did nothing obviously besides be cannon fodder. but it was more or less to connect past and present movies together, it was a homage and retcon.

Hopefully the Director’s cut will be more fulfilling. I can’t wait to see it.

hopefully the director’s cut has some Sentinels in it that are actually big.
