(I thought it combined all of the universes though.)
Granted, that wouldn’t really “shake up” most of the cores properties outside of mutants being killed off by Marvel partly out of spite at Fox and inhumans thusly being made more popular, but I thought a bunch of other stuff changed too since everything is presumably only one universe (for now).
A handful(a literal handful) remember what happened, and fantastic four were explained away, and there were a couple changes:
Spoiler
Mr. Fantastic reset what Doom changed sans a couple things: Miles’ Mom is alive now(or something), Doom’s face isn’t fucked up, molecule man is extremely extremely powerful.
To the average reader/moviegoer/etc., nothing has changed.
Molecule Man was always extremely powerful, just too unstable to control it.
Basically, Mr. Fantastic, Molecule Man, and Franklin Richards with Valeria Richards assist rebuilt the multiverse. Molecule Man fixed Doom’s face and brought Miles into 616 with his family and friends intact as thanks for giving him a cheeseburger(no joke). The F4 are explained away as exploring the multiverse, mutants are still dying, X-23 is Wolverine, Old Man Logan is a 616 resident, Rogers still old and grumpy, Banner is no longer the Hulk, as Amadeus Cho absorbed all his gamma radiation into himself, and is now the Totally Awesome Hulk(again, no joke)… Those are basically the only major status quo changes.
Only people that remember what happened are Molecule Man, the F4, and possibly Doom.
The entire event was basically a well-written Marvel “fuck you” to Fox for not playing ball with X-Men and F4 cinematic licenses.
Yeah Doom figured out that Molecule Man was a multiversal singularity, meaning he was the same person across all universes. Killing one of his other selves made the others more powerful, similar to that Jet Li movie, The One, so Doom set about killing all the other Molecule Men to boost his powers enough to challenge the Beyonders.
Yeah, I get that. Has the Asgardians’ origins been explained in the movies? Even if a little different from the comics I don’t see why they should be aliens. I should post some pages of the origins of the gods, it’s really interesting stuff.
I think Secret Wars did change the multiverse in some ways. Some characters in the main universe seem to come from different times, like Doctor Strange in his original costume instead of the black one of recent years.
They recently announced the return of the original Thunderbolts, but almost the same team from the 90’s, retro costumes and all. I mean, to see Moonstone from what she was wearing recently to back to that bug armor costume… Young fixer is back
Oh, and Hulk Maestro remembers Secret Wars, he explains it in the current Contest of Champions.
I mean, if there are changes, they weren’t explained in the secret wars comics besides what we just talked about.
I’m sure in the all-new marvel line theres some “explanation”(like for instance we don’t find out why Cho is HUlk until a couple issues into the cho hulk series, 0 info in secret wars)
Wait… I just heard about Cho Hulk… Is he completely in control while being transformed?
So Hulk is now one of the strongest and smartest heroes in the world?
Who the fuck can stop him?? He will be able to calculate the distance he can punch you and the exact area you will fall to.
He can literally punch villains straight into Ryker’s Island.
I can’t really give an opinion, much like the Batman vs Superman debate, the internet seems to have strong feelings over him and he “loses to girls”(whatever that means???). His book is only like 4 issues in so I guess we’ll find out.
But yeah, one of the main differences between this hulk and banner hulk is there’s not really a conflict/split between hulk/cho: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKAwjpoI3IQ
Hulk Cho is in control though sometimes he loses it. I think that’s going to be a theme here. Cho’s sister is another quantum brain and will be there guiding him.
i never knew that was cho’s power…i actually wrote a comic story based on a similar power but the dude was an experiment to be a super soldier and used the calculations to become the best fighter. always calculating the best options for his attacks and shots based on physical movements of opponents, as well as calculating the most likely scenerios.
(And suddenly this is the Amadeus Cho thread. I don’t necessarily disapprove, especially now that it means he won’t have to endure one of those “Man of Kleenex” situations when they inevitably have him hook up with Hercules to be “edgy”.)
Otherwise, huh. Good to know about the “new” Marvel I guess. I wonder how long it will actually last though, even ignoring the bickering with Fox that no one but Marvel has themselves to blame (fantastically) for in the first place.
Shrug. I’m sure I’ll about it one way or another given how many of you talk about comics in The Lounge.
As I said, I haven’t actually seen the first Thor, but I’m pretty sure that MCU just explains away their version of Asgardians as “just” super advanced outer-space humanoid aliens rather than the more “purely” magical extradimensional beings that they are in comics.
