So far, I donāt really have any qualms casting a person who is half Asian to play character who is originally British, then physically altered to look Asian, then whose mind was actually placed IN a person who is actually Asian. People are griping too much, just like Cable needing to be super ripped, have acting chops, and 6ā8".
And this is coming from me, who was pissed off The Last Airbender didnāt have Aang or Katara be Asian.
Edit: To elaborate, The Last Airbender was shit even if they did a better job of casting. My point isnāt really about the movie, but about US film industry and the lack of Asian actors. Female Asians get a pass because they are exotic and look attractive. But how many male actors who are Asian do you see getting cast? They are sterotyped for roles that are either nerds or martial artists. Itās only recently that this started to change with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Fresh off the Boat.

Anyway, I personally liked the recent trailer more than the previous. More serious tone, and Oozeās voice was finally fixed.
And she refused to use a British accent because āthere are already enough of those and I wanted to represent this side of the pondā or something stupid to that degree.
Itās mainly because she is a bad actress and cannot do a good British accent.
