I hope the cut-scene ultra/super is just a phase for Capcom and this is the last fighting game they produce where I set down my controller and wait for the conclusion of the 60 hits and the credits to roll. Got to play a little MvC3 at Evo this year… it’s certainly different… I’m reserving my judgements for the retail release.
They need more original characters like Thor (MvC1 assist doesn’t count), Super Skrull, etc. I understand you have to have your flagship characters in every game (Ryu, Chun-Li, Spiderman, etc), but I’d like to see lots more characters from both sides that have never been in a MvC game before.
EDIT: GG, too true. I made a comment to Syxx a few weeks ago that SF4 is essentially an interactive Saturday morning cartoon. And the 7 second Ultra animations don’t necessarily counter my argument either…
I really hope that Daredevil is in the game. His story is so great, a blind man with a code of justice like that. Sometimes he has do things he doesn’t want to, but there’s a reason and in the end the overall situation is bettered. I can relate to that, you know? You could have Bullseye too, he’d make a great fighting game character.
I’d like to see these Marvel Characters too:
Moon Knight
Ultron
Ms. Marvel
and of course The Punisher
Outside of Spider-Man, I don’t think we’re going to get any of the Marvel Knights (IE: Street Level) characters.

Mystique would be cool. Yep Carlos Tuesday I hope Taokaka does a little more damage in this game. I liked her in BB CT you just had to work really hard for her win cuz she didn’t do much damage. I hear Hakumen is a lot better in this game too.

Oh snaps!!! My Noel loop is gone… and now Tager got beefed up. I’ve always had trouble with Tager. His grab takes out… 1/3 of your life. It’s horrid. I don’t feel like making her my primary again… Don’t want to go through all that crap again…

I don’t really have a problem with the ultra animations, especially since they only happen if you hit and typically end the round anyway, at least in SF4. Also ones that go longer usually are harder to land. Ones that are more common like Chun’s Kikosho tend to be pretty quick and just a quick camera zoom in that’s pretty equal to the moment of screen freeze in something like Alpha.
I honestly had never thought of it being any more obtrusive than the animations/screen freeze in stuff like CvS 2 or MvC2. It’s just flashier and more noticable now.
I have a SF4 Madcatz TE for PS3 that i never use. I would sell it for a low price if you’re interested. I’ll bring it to the next fight night - see what you think.
Zoomed-in ultra animations break the flow of the game for me. It isn’t merely a flash across the screen (think 3S), it’s a long, drawn out animation that takes literally 5 seconds from start to finish, alters the camera angle completely, and is just unnecessary.
It’s most similar to Metal Gear Solid 3 and accessing the Survival Viewer (those who played Metal Gear Solid 3 know exactly what I’m talking about).
kikosho may not have a long start up animation, but you can make a sandwich while its chipping your opponent.
