WWE King of The Ring Combo Thread

Here’s a fun combo tag w/heihachi.

Takes 2 bar (starting w/King):
j.HK -> FP -> EX Konvict -> knee x 4 -> cross cancel (mp+mk) -> FP -> srk.MP -> FP -> srk.K -> P

Takes 1 bar (starting w/Heihachi):
j.HK -> FP -> srk.MP -> FP -> srk.MP -> FP -> srk.K -> P -> cross cancel (mp+mk) -> knee x 2 -> d.FP -> srk.HP

After about 2 hours learning King this is what I was able to dig up, Im sure theres more but this Is what seemed useful.

Jumping Knee Lift x3, (HP) Reverse Arm Slam Combo ( Harder, but can build a little more meter and just 2 less damage from the combo above )

We need to figure out exactly what determines when you can go straight into Knee Lifts off a Launcher and when you can’t; I don’t think it’s just screen distance, but also character specific. Right now I pretty much do cr:lp: uf:mk: :hp: xx :dp::hp:

I still can’t land the uf mk after cr.lp… you think thats character specific also or are you landing it 100% of the time on everyone?

its 100 % for everyone, but is a bit trickier in the corner where King has to travel at full distance.

Treat it like a link. It also depends on how fast you get the c.LP to come out, the earlier, the better.

does king have any extensive combos that use… i guess CADC? everything i’ve been using is a variation off of the knee lift or wall/ground bounces from CH or Elbow drops
… i guess king is not a combo heavy type fighter?? idk

oh ya… i managed to land the knee lift on launcher after using a s.:lp:

CADC is used to combo on normals that float and on characters who are fairly link heavy. King has no floating normals (gets the Knees instead) and doesn’t rely on links at all. He doesn’t have a cancelable sweep, so the only real use of CADC I’ve found is to store a counterhit, bait a backdashed whiff, or buffer in RASC so you can backdash on block if you use :lk: or cr:mk:

So just to recap, the consensus is that after a launch, I can always hit King’s Knees if I precede them with a c.lp as long as my timing is correct? This thing seems to be the majority of King’s game besides his mixups on their wakeup, so I want to make sure I’m practicing it perfectly.

I think you can only land the raw knees after a launcher if you get the counter hit extra frames. If not you really need to go for the c.lp link

Another good trick is that if you have the bar, if you switch cancel the launcher after a magic series combo, you can land knees anywhere on screen except the corner (haven’t actually tested the corner extensively).

So this is what I have been doing.

One bar : cr. lp into knees, then save the ex for a ex kick setup

two bars: switch cancel the launcher, get all the knees, then switch cancel back into my point out of Jumping roundhouse

Easy combos, good damage

DO NOT TAG CANCEL YOUR LAUNCHERS

You’re getting very little damage for your bar. You should be saving that bar for alpha counters and useful tag cancels. Seriously, just do the cr.:lp: into Knee until you’re good enough to eyeball when a dual Knee will connect.

Seriously, stop tagging for a modicum of damage (like 50 damage tops in this situation). King’s pretty terrible without meter, and 2 bars gets you a full combo OFF A BLOCK. 1 bar is a strike invincible command grab or EX Konvict for juggling.

But seriously, tag canceling a launcher may give you knees easier, but its going to gimp King. His throws don’t work the same as say, Marduk or Gief. They have a shit ton of start up and EX allows him to have invuln.
