I can see your point on the cases. In the end it’s easier to find someone to paint the frame than to build a frame like that from scratch. And from the looks of it, the uptake on the black texture finish was pretty high the first few rounds, so having that as the standard finish makes sense. While I’m glad mine came out and am very thankful for the trials you had to go thru to get it right, going forward I cans ee where this would make the most sense.

Now to finish fighting this template…

Quality over quantity.
Some of the best restaurants are known for this.
In-and-Out anyone?

Hey you guys are pretty smart  But seriously thanks for understanding my situation. I had 3 factors to look at Time (build time) Money (cost to build) and most importantly Quality (speaks fore it’s self) The more options I have the more time it will take to build the more money it will cost to buy and the quality might suffer as a result. In the end I’d rather have a higher quality product with fewer option that I can build in a reasonable time frame and sell at a reasonable price.

Anyway lets move on the the pictures shall we.

The is just to show you how things will fit together with the updated design. I’t not finished yet as I still need to add the wooden sides and add the felt tape to the base so there is a cushion between the plexi and the painted MDF.

As you can see their are 4 different pieces that kind of sandwich together between the steel shell and the rubber feet.

The Universal case uses 3" 8\32 flat top screws to hold it all together (the Slim will use 2 1/4" 8/32 pan head screws).

Here a pic of the spacing of the feet from the bottom. For those of you wondering if those fancy “Jinx” feet will fit. I think there should be plenty of room. That reminds me I never did get the set I ordered? ( Don’t mind the blue tape between the cracks)

Top and back view with the screw posts set into place.

flip it over and post a pic of the top please

ah never mind just go look at the flickr page.

edit: or just reload the page lol

Will Art be offering bottom plexi replacements too?

I did notice something while out in the sun today. The plexi tops fit very tight and even a little warmth made it so that they didn’t want to fit into place. So I took the plexi and stuck it in the fridge for a few minutes. When I pulled it out it fit right in place, as you can see in the pictures. I was very careful not to bend the plexi while it was cold because I was afraid it could crack but it seems to be fine now that its been put together for a while. I’m gonna contact Art and see what he thinks about this solution and it if will be a problem but so far so good from what I can tell.

Edit*@ Halvie Um we didn’t really get into that although I’m sure he could if I gave him the dimensions. It’s something I’m gonna do for now until we work out the details.

also wondering if you know what length the top plexi bolts are.

You can use either 1/2" or 3/4" screw posts but I like to swap out the aluminum screws with 8/32 5/8" Steel pan head machine screws because the alloy screw posts come with alloy screws that are slotted and I prefer the Phillips head screws with a little more length and bite.

Very very nice. Now to see how teh sides attach to the case and what they look like. The suspense is killing me!

Is it too late to upgrade to a wood trim? If it is, then that’s not a problem but I want an honest answer. Wood trim with blue or white with blue looks hotter?

Yep wood trim is coming up next

It’s not too late what did you have in mind? I did however already powder coat your case with the Blue Ice Explosion you ordered. So I think Maple ($30.00 upgrade) would be a nice touch or maybe even some tiger maple ($40 upgrade) would look even better.

Melted RJ45 (This is what happened when I tried to cure it with the HD Black Cherry at 400 degrees for 10 min) I’ll try again at a lower temp when I get more in.

The tin next to it is what came out of it and splattered all over my oven, almost looks like solder?

Check PMS. =)

Boy you weren’t kidding when you said you melted it!

im waiting to see how brighenne’s case looks with the white and expensive wood trim to see if i would upgrade… As of right now, im just white case with regular mdf… right jesse?

Those stick shafts looks great… Is it wrong to be really excited about all this?

PM’s checked

Yep I guess I found the melting point lol

Yep your cases is white with the white MDF frame. I’ll take some pics with the wood trim next to some of the other cases. I just have some more sanding and polishing to get done first.

LOL I hope not I’m pretty excited to see them all come together myself

Send you a email, voltech.

Thanks!

Is the price of your stick for a complete, a blank with buttons and stick, or just a blank?

These are blanks. No buttons, PCB, or joystick.
