Regular 55! Sorry dude, I didn’t realise that would make a diff for you

AAAAhhhhhh!!!

Not sure what else to say except after Round 3 I personally will no longer be able to do custom colors :frowning: I’m going to go back to my original plan and just offer the Black and white Textured powder coats. I’ve given it my best shot but I don’t feel that I’m comfortable selling something that I don’t feel is at the standard I want it to be. That said I did find someone that will do any custom color or combination of colors you want, he has all the right equipment and does very good work from what I’ve seen so far. His name is Harley and his site is www.likenewparts.com I meet him on the Powder buy the pound forums and He’s already done some shells for Halvie and they turned out really well. I spent the last 2 weeks trying to get it down and damn near went broke trying to get the right equipment but have come up short so before I lose my shirt trying to get it right I decided to just do what I know will work and let a more experienced person do the custom colors until I get it down. Harley told me that he will do the custom shells for $35.00 plus shipping both ways (Best price I found so far) and that includes the powder and up to 2 coats. Shipping for me was almost 30 dollars round trip for 2 cases but the more I send out the lower the price will get.

Here’s my idea but I’m open to suggestion because I want you guys to be happy in the end.

I’m suggesting that you choose either the Black or White texture powder coat and I’ll do it myself (makes my life a lot easier). Or if you really want that custom color I’ll give it a shot but if I cannot pull it off then I’ll have to ship it off but I’ll need the second half of the payment a or at least enough to cover the cost a little early since I cant cover the cost out of my pocket right now. I’ve already wasted way too much time and money on the first batch so I don’t want to repeat that mistake a second and third time. I hate to bring bad news especially since things where looking up but it’s just to inconsistent right now for me to be able to pull off and it’s kinda stressing me out :\ So it’s back to the basics and my original plan until further notice.

I was going to post up some pics today but I’ve been in the garage pretty much all day trying to get a couple of shells done and I’ve literally coated and stripped them about 3 time each with only 2 that came out decent enough for me to consider letting go. I’ll taket some pics now that I’m done for the evening but just I needed to vent and get this off my chest.

More later

I still want the harley cream pearl. If you send it out or do it yourself does not matter. I’ll send you another 100$ now.

Hey Guys, haven’t seen decent photos of the shells Harley coated, but if Jesse is happy enough with the results to recommend him here I am sure they turned out pretty nice. Out of the like 20 shops I have emailed asking about coating them he was by far the best customer service wise. Prompt responses to emails, and actually answered questions you asked rather than giving a two, or three word response. As Jesse said he isn’t charging too much to coat these, and it seems as he does a nice job. Would recommend using him if you want some colors that Voltech won’t end up doing himself.

Does that mean no more Monday photo shoot?

Ok I’ll get it ready to ship once I have a few ready to go. I wanna try and send them out in groups of 2 or 4 to save on shipping.

Yep they turned out really nice plus the guy is really professional and is a really nice guy.

That depends on how tomorrow goes. I gotta get some more frames done, I was tweaking on the shells all day today and got little done >\ I still need to go out that way regardless so maybe we can still meet up, I’ll call you.

I say make life easier for yourself and scrap custom colours altogether. Most people probably just want exactly what the prototype looks like

Well I could just offer the DIY blank shell for a discount and let people take care of the custom colors themselves.

the more options the better

jesse is a good guy for being so upfront. Sorry this project is driving u nuts atm but thanks for thinking about us.

Updated the first page of my trading post to reflect the changes made. I hope nobodys pissed at me but it’s the only real choice I have right now, thanks for understanding.

You guys can feel free to contact me via Google chat I always try and respond asap voltecharcadesticks@gmail.com

I’ve uploaded some pictures to my flickr page http://www.flickr.com/photos/56701743@N00/

See I’m not lazy

impressive.

Just checked the photostream. You’ve been a very busy man Jesse! That quilted maple looks the absolute business. (Hope I’m not spoiling anything posting it here, If so I’ll remove it):

Almost makes me wish I got that stained instead. Oh well, there’s always the happ sized case down the road!

A few quick questions:

I believe that’s my plywood in the foreground. What’s the wood in the background?

From the looks of it, that plywood should look great once the poly goes on. If I remember correctly, you mentioned you had glues up another set of ply sided just in case. Any way to get a shot of both of them with the shell? I think the stain you used should work, but I’s love to see them both tobe sure.

Spoiler alert!! lol Yeah that Quilted Maple is some very cool stuff. I’t has a crazy 3D effect going on and it looks almost bubbly and deep. You are correct again that is the stacked Baltic birch ply just sanded without any finish on it yet. I also have another set thats blank right now and I’m doing a test piece with just an amber clear coat over it (looks good so far). The dark wood in the background is Wenge and the black stuff is Black Dyed Maple oh and the lighter wood is Tiger maple. Once I get the finish on them I will take some pictures so you can compare the 2. I personally like the look of the Black pearl and the lighter wood for the contrast between the 2 but we’ll see how they look when compared.

So glad I bought that quilted maple. Thanks ebay.

quilted maple is legit!! how much was that brighenne?

Here’s a couple of pieces sold as a book match set this could be enough for maybe 4 cases. http://cgi.ebay.com/5A-QUILTED-CURLY-EXTREME-FIGURED-MAPLE-BOOKMATCHED-SET-/130392424458?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item1e5bfe800a#ht_592wt_1137

The dyes maple is going to look sick with the clear coat. And you may be right on the dyed vs. natural ply as well. I look forward to seeing the results.

As an aside, since the powdercoat hasn’t worked like you hoped, any thought of going to paint down the road? Auto Air Color paint has a slew of colors, pearls, metallics, etc, and House of Kolorcomes in 2 and 4oz bottles as well.

To be honest I’d just prefer to keep it simple for now and not bother with a million different colors and thats why I’ll sell the blanks so you guys have the option to get a custom paint job done anywhere you like or even “DIY” Do It Yourself
