Ok guys I have a few updates and some things that I want to address. First I gathered up some wood and supplies this weekend so I’ll start my second wave of builds this week. I was able to get some nice thick pieces of Maple (not curly maple just the regular stuff) enough to make about 10 boxes or so, I’ll have some pics up in a couple of days. I also got some Oak but it’s not as thick about 3/4" (my current models are using 1" thick boards) the wood looks really nice So I’ll build a few and if you like them I’ll make more. I haven’t started the MDF boxes yet because I’m debating if I want to just go with poplar instead. I plan to get the wood for these by next weekend.
I had some trouble with the paint I wanted to use and have moved to Lacquer and although it takes a bit longer to finish it looks much nicer in the end. So I think I’ll make some more black and white boxes since I got a couple gallons of it now. I don’t have any pics from this weekend because my cameras battery decided to stop holding a charge.
I also made some changes to my Template again to fix the problem with Sanwa button nuts from fitting. I basically just separated each button by half a millimeter and it should fix the problem.
One more thing. What I plan to do is just make batches of boxes (maybe five of these and five of those) and then post them up with pics and numbers. The people on the waiting list will get the first pick. Taking orders for boxes right now will just be too difficult for me since I’m doing this pretty much by myself. The options you will get once you have chosen a frame will be the hole pattern layout ie Vewlix, Blast City or Universal. The number of button holes in the plexi (all 8 will be drilled in the MDF sheet below). If you plan to use a Korean stick I will need to know because it takes a different size hole in the plexi to mount. The bottom sheet will come with either plexi or a wooden bottom with a sticky foam for lap play (both will come with 4 rubber feet in the corners). If you want both it will be a $10 upgrade.
I’ve chosen the 4 24mm button design with the extra 24mm hole for the usb panel mount for my next build. If this works out cool if not I may make some changes or add another layout.
I need to update my main page with these changes and I will, when I get the time
