The prototypes look great Voltech but Im kind of confused…which of the cases will be lighter- the lite? or the elite? the descriptions seem to contradict themselves unless I read it wrong…and I havent checked the thread in a couple days so Im not entirely sure what design changes have happened but your saying that besides having the different trims of lite, elite and elite plus they can also be either slim or universal?
Haha, The Elite model comes with wooden side caps made with domestic woods, The Elite Plus will have Exotic woods and the Lite will have no wooden caps just the MDF side walls from the frame. So the Weight will very from case to case but the Lite model will be the lightest because it doesn’t have the wooden end caps. although I will say that even the Lite model weighs more than my last model because of the metal shell. The name “Lite” wasn’t a reference to the weight so much as the price. I’m also thinking of offering a DIY blank model for $110.00 for those that want to do the painting themselves (not part of this first batch) So that would make 4 diferent models 8 if you count the 2 different sizes Slim and Universal. So I’ll list them all for you.

That is a lot of options, and you haven’t even thought about the acrylic shells (if those are still in the works). Hopefully you can keep all those options and be cost effective (and stay sane!). If not, readjusting down the road could work.

Just how resistant are the powder coated shells to scratches?
Well powder coat isn’t bullet proof but it is the toughest paint you can get Tougher than Auto paint and for sure tougher than painted wood. They use this stuff on tools, engine parts, motorcycle frames, and car Rims. Ah that would explain why all the color choices changed spots and such lol. I didnt know there were different regional sites. I asked because I was thinking of getting one of the candy colors but if this is gonna be my main I didnt want it to be all scratch up so after I use it ala the ipod.
Just a quick test to see how things fit together. I’ll need to make a few minor changes but over all this it looking pretty good so far. Next I’ll work on the little round off to follow the rounded corners of the shell.

Haha thanks guys I got a few little tweaks to get it all lined up just right but nothing I can’t easily adjust. Yes on the final build there will be no bolts in the top ( Unless you want them to hold the plexi down) weld nuts on the inside will help hold the case together. The plexi will sit flush it’s just loosely sitting there right now (remember Arthong and I are working on getting some top quality plaxi for these) I’m practicing the technique for the round overs and it’s a little tricky but I think I’ll be able to pull it off with a little practice. I’ve also adjusted the Pexi top to be a little larger and centered to match the VSHG look a little more closely. This is no cheap imitation VSHG clone this is an upgrade in every way I’ll keep tweaking on the prototype so that when the shells get in I’ll be able build them quickly as possible, I really think you’re going like the final outcome
