Team 3D is not gone…

Team 3D signed new multi-year deals with TNA Wrestling last week. They were expected to remain with the company, but there was communication between WWE & Team 3D about them coming in to revitalize their tag team division.

There was also an interest in WWE signing Brother Ray as a producer down the line. There was also talk about how WWE could use Team 3D’s wrestling academy in Florida to help train some of the newer developmental talents.

In the end, they both wound up re-signing with TNA. The travel schedule in TNA also played a role in their decision to sign with TNA.

I?m not here to talk about MMA. If/when you read my book, you?ll read a good 1000 words on my view on the sport vis a vis the art we talk about here. If you listened to the podcast last week, you heard me and Mikey talk about MMA a little. To sum up: I get it, but it?s not for me. I?m one of the guys who is into pro wrestling because it?s fake.

Lesner was always the opposite. Lesner was never a sports entertainer. He was an athlete, and the scripted nature of wrestling never seemed to sit incredibly well with him. That?s why he got into MMA, and why he dominated. His loss last night was surprising and critical for the sport, but it might be interesting for wrestling. Just like Sting and Nash in TNA, the Undertaker is an old wrestler, and old wrestlers speak cryptically. When Brock shifted by him during the interview above, Taker didn?t ask if Brock was okay. He asked if he wanted to do it. I shouldn?t have to draw you a map as to what that implies.

Lesner VS Undertaker at Wrestlemania XVII is already a heavy rumour. Lesner didn?t leave on the best terms, but if Taker wants him, he?ll be welcomed back, and he might bring a large MMA-fanbase with him.

I think that would be the story, too. The video above felt like seed-planting. I can?t imagine they would delve into any sort of fiction: the reality here is enough. The only problem with reality is that Lesner destroyed Taker, and that was eight years ago. The only card Taker holds is the streak. Would they give it to Brock, if that meant a return?

Don’t get your hopes up. While Ziggler is a notoriously clean heel at PPV’s, that doesn’t always hold over on TV…especially with Nexus roaming, Barrett being pissed off, and Ziggler’s unlucky streak with them.

Also, on the Taker/Lesnar thing, I did think of WM when Taker made that remark. But Taker’s going into surgery…so he would have to return quickly, squash Kane in the process, THEN prepare for Lesnar.

If I’m Dana White, I’d let this happen. Give a bit more press to that Heavyweight Division. Plus he wouldn’t have to MASSIVELY worry about Lesnar’s health, since Lesnar has obviously done this before. …we just have to keep him from trying any SSP’s randomly…

Dana knows Vince would benefit from it more than he [dana] would. Because Vince would be getting MMA, UFC and old wrestling fans to come back to watch Lesnar/Taker at WM.

The same wouldn’t happen if it was Taker vs. Lesnar at a UFC card.

True, however Dana shouldn’t be paranoid enough to know that outside of a disaster, WWE will never pass UFC in popularity…it just won’t happen. The internet pretty much takes that out of the question. So Dana should use this opportunity to help boost some ratings in the Heavyweight division. Sure, WWE might get a bit more out of it, but it will be temporary at best. Unless they give Danielson a 40 minute match at WM as well, UFC fans will just brush WWE aside after watching the Lesnar match, and WWE fans might stay with UFC. Plus they never really affect each other’s major ratings with UFC on Saturdays, WWE PPV’s on Sunday, and Live Streaming everywhere.

I really want to say WWF and ECW…but I think that was more of a collaboration to take down WCW?

The only thing though is that with WM27, WWE is going to pull money no mater what. IMO it doesn’t matter if its with UFC, Boxing, or hell even Pop Stars.

And I do need to actually retract a bit since apparently (according to the worlds most “reliable” source, the internet) mentions that White retracted his stance
