They are when WWE wants them to be, Owen Hart technically won the WWE title at a house show but it was rescinded because it was a house show. Men on a Mission won the tag title at a house show and that stayed, I believe Uso’s won one of their tag titles at a house show as well. It happens on rare occasion. Still makes it even more dumb Joe did not win at Dallas.
in case no one wants to read… ic and cruiser have changed a few times and tag titles have been changed a bunch. also the usos never won it in a house show according to redditt.
Didn’t check, but does that mention the times the Hardcore Title changed hands at House Shows? I’d imagine that shit happened all the time and it just went back to the “original/current Champ” come time for the next TV taping.
Edit: Nevermind, I hadn’t clicked the link, but it mentions it right away.
I bet this was a big last min change of plans in terms of storylines. Balor vs aj vs Roman fued… Maybe even a balor club vs aj and Roman faction thing.
it’s also not surprising that the title was dropped thow that I think about it. commentary on this weeks NXT went out of their way to mention Joe vs. Balor at this house show. So it must have been in the works for a while.
Ultimately comes down to their plans for Finn/Bullet Club/Balor Club/Whatever. If they plan on booking him like a complete monster on the main roster, it’s not going to hurt to kind of hide the fact that he lost, rather than making that the centerpiece to the biggest show in NXT history.
Odds are that the WWE is just stupid, though. Like a 92% chance they’re just stupid.
Does NXT not sell out? I’ve never heard of it not selling out.
Columbus was crazy packed and sold out in less than a couple hours and that’s Ohio, PLUS they’d been here 3 times before.
