Of the hundreds of breeds of dogs out there, I honestly think that the line should be drawn somewhere with owning an animal whos species has a very bad record with regards to dog attacks. I life was lost in this case, but this should not come as a suprise to anybody.
Here’s the thing: there’s not enough information in the article.
I think it’s safe to say the dog may not have viciously attacked the baby. Who knows what happened to that baby while she was asleep? She wasn’t there to witness a vicious attack, so no one can say it really was one. Dogs are dumb; most dogs don’t even know what a human baby is or looks like. Hell, a human baby could look like a small animal to a dog. Maybe the dog thought it was a small animal, or maybe it thought it was some chew toy. Who knows? Dogs are stupid and unpredictable. Point being: dog munched on baby for whatever reason.
Young stupid mother dumb enough to get knocked up by her equally dumb boyfriend (which is probably the case) falls asleep next to her baby with a dumb dog in the room. Dog munches on baby for whatever reason. Falling asleep = baby unattended. Dumb move by dumb mother. Point being: another dumb mother leaves her baby unattended with a dog.
Both dog and mother are dumb and are at fault here.
It doesn’t really help that the mother is some dumb 16 year old girl that is probably black and poor (hence having a pitbull, lol).
I sound perfectly realistic. The person to blame here is the mother, she failed to take the essential actions to make sure her child was safe. Any animal could have done this, parents are warned about this kind of thing from doctors, psychologists, and just plain common sense. This is not a “Pitt bulls are evil” issue this is an “animals need to be looked after and even more so your children, especially when they are 7 days old.”
Look I’m not saying the dog shouldn’t be put down or something I am saying that this is not a pure pittbull issue. This is a dog and good parenting issue. This topic, and the story linked in this topic are “Pittbulls are evil” bullshit and what they should be about is that mother fucked up and left her 7 day old child where a dog could get to it and should be forewarning not to leave a baby alone in the vicinity of an animal. Any dog could have done this. Just about any pet could have done this.
How am I being unreasonable in saying “Keep your baby safe and don’t leave it where a dog can get to it while you are not watching.” If your asleep with the kid kick the dog out of the room. If your going to take a nap while to dog is in the house and don’t want to put him in the yard then crate the dog, go in a bedroom and close the door, put the baby in a crib. Fuckin make your kid safe. I don;t see how that is unreasonable.

Rhio2k - Word, I live in the hood and most of the thugs around my area are black and asian. Every single person Ive seen walking a dog or driving with a dog in their car have pitbulls around here. And its obvious that the only reason they own that breed is because they think it makes them look hard.
For black and hispanic/latino dudes: to look hard. Every brother or spanish dude in my hood has a pit, if they have a dog at all. ANY mostly black hood, everybody with a dog has either a rott or a pit, but more and more commonly, it’s been pits. Rottweilers are being phased out in favor of a dog that does more than just LOOK like it might fuck you up if you blink wrong.

I have 5 dogs of varying breed some aggressive, some not. There’s my two Chihuahuas Sandy and Susie. Both aggressive. There’s Zoe the Chow and Daisy the Chow Chihuahua. Both are very shy and will run unless cornered where they become very agressive. Daisy will also attack if caught with a strange while alone. Then there is my Shih Tzu Laz who loves everyone. Guess which dogs I don;t leave alone with people. I also own two exotic birds. A Mollucan Cockatoo and a Green and Gold Macaw. Both very agressive. Guess which birds I don’t leave alone with people. I’ve also had snakes, Iguanas and an assortment of other pets. I actually know what the fuck I’m talking about, but forgive me for calling the woman who let her dog kill her child a bad parent. I guess my standards are too high.
On the subject of making assumptions about me you can do me a good favor and fuck off cause you’re way off base. Instead of making the assumption and then attacking me on the basis of that assumption you could probably just ask me if I had any dogs and then respond based on the answer I give you because I would have been more then happy to answer your question.
Everyone knows most (not any MOST) dogs could have done this, BUT what most people are saying is Pit Bulls are more LIKELY to do this. Of course partial blame is on the parent. That is a given, however the mistakes of the parent in this situation shouldn’t warrant DEATH for the baby. You replace the pit with a less dangerous dog then yes maybe the baby still gets hurt, but being hurt is a lot different than being dead.
