SFxT is like the final proof that somewhere along the way Capcom stopped understanding how to make fighting games. say what you want about balance in ST and 3s, or A groove roll cancelling in CVS2, at least those games made sense.
Makes me wonder. How hard would it be to Mod SF4 to add parry? I imagine it’s something like adding an extra special to every character, which duplicates focus properties?
Focus Attacks aren’t a real parry. And parry would destroy any zoning character in SF4/5. It works in 3s because the action takes place in closer quarters and because classic fireball zoning isn’t really (supposed to be) that effective a style of play in that game. But I can’t see how a character like Ryu or Sagat would be worth using the way they’re currently played in a game with 3s style parrying.
i like sfxt at least theres no yolo DPs. but yeah people who have high-low mixups as bNB confirms seem to rape my guile blanka team who have to stick out riskier slower pokes.
Which is why I’d rather have no meter.
Speaking of Capcom fighters, I can’t be only one who thinks it’s bs having people running away to build meter in a “lost” round, “get out of jail for x meter” move, or worse, “shut own their best gameplan” meter or just plain retarded comeback like Ultra Combos and X-Factor.
Really, it’s just lazy design.
Unless we’re talking about CvS, of course. It’s about time they brought it back.
Nah you’re not I fucking hate all of that too
Most dudes are under the assumption that Parry=3S when in fact it’s only a mechanic that’s part of 3S. 3S has a lot of things going on aside from just Parrying. For example: tons of moves in 3S that are usually safe on block in other fighters (sweeps, point blank fireball, etc) are unsafe in 3S aside from certain characters and can be punished. Not to mention that fireballs don’t deal near as much damage or chip or pushback as the SF4 series and forcing the player to either use EX or be more creative. 3S has a priority system where throws beat command grabs. In 3S you can quick-rise after being knocked down by anything except a super. Meaties interrupt wakeup attacks except for Supers and certain EX specials and Ken and Akuma’s Fierce SRK. That’s off the top of my head and I’m no expert.
So with that established. If you were to take SF4 and just add Parries and by extension 1 frame Red Parries it would not make SF4 more like 3S unless you make all those other tweeks to suit the mechanics of that game.
No, I hate parrying (still love 3S cuz there’s more to it than that, but…). I wish they’d just go back to an ST “groove”. Sweet and simple. Also, no More than 25 base-characters and no less than 20.
Capcom should know, less is more. You start adding all this crazy crap to games and people stop buying and playing them, no matter how good they are. You dial things back (SFIV) and you’ll sell millions and 99.9% of the “FGC” will only play that game (which kind of begs the question, can you really call it the FGC, but that’s a discussion for another time). With the next SF, Cap should roll it back further and watch the money flood in and the players eat it up. If they do a few other things right in between now and that time, I’ll be eating it up, too.
THY BOARD RULES ESTIPULATE THAT THOU SHALL NOT MAKE WISHLIST THREADS
Doesnt anyone fucking read them?
Oh sweet Lord…how many years will go by before they even ANNOUNCE SF 5…and how many stupid wishlists will appear before that happens?
