Would Adon make a good beginner character?

Not to turn this into a U1 discussion thread, but as someone who uses U1 more than U2 I still gotta disagree. I love U1 for punishing and for catching full-screen nonsense, but up close it’s awful. So many times the first hit will connect but cross up, and I’ll just roll across the screen waiting to be punished for an ultra I landed :frowning:

It’s a great ultra in certain matchups, but it’s too situational to be top five.

If i had to put Adon in difficulty of learning, I’d say hes a 7/10.

I feel like most of Adons dominating qualities come out when you have shut down your opponent. Once you get your momentum going, they won’t want to throw out moves or even jump. It’s truly a satisfying feeling when you have you’re opponent in the corner and he’s even to afraid to try a jump back round house or jump out in fear of eating a Jaguar Kick. Adon takes a lot of practice to learn. I almost gave up on Adon after the first week of the game cause his combos are very strict in regards to execution.

but like others have already stated, if you’re looking for a main, pick who you’re having fun with.

why do u think adon is so hard to use? He is the easiest character to learn in this game and also pretty easy to use. Sure he has some strict timing links but as a beginner u dont need to start with them. Much better pick than ken, ibuki and cody imo.

You probebly dont use adon im thinking. It isnt really that he is hard to use even though he is its more that he is difficult to use against most characters as most of his moves get beaten easily unless you play safe. Oh easiest character in the game to learn YOU MAD!!!

I use Adon to practice footsies and such. My execution is still shitty enough that I drop 60% of his combos and get punished. As a beginner, it may be good though. Trains you to just not mash shit out.

If you decide to take up Adon as your first character, do not forget to do all of his trials in order to get a good feeling on his moveset.

i used to play sagat in vanilla but I got bored with him then adon came along and he’s so much more fun to play with. playing adon stops you from abusing moves such as the almighty srk. not having a godly move such as this really helps out your game a lot.

Hey JK is godly if used right.

Jaguar kick is overpowered.

umm no its not…

Adon is very easy to pick up. I would see easiest besides Ryu in the game to learn.

easy to pick up is gief and hawk, just spam grab no specials needed

Lol you can tell sooo easy that people who say this dont use adon. He is not easy to pick up at all.

Against characters that dont have an answer, yes it is. JK pressures the fuck out of ppl especially once you get them in the corner. Characters that have no answer eat chip damage all day.

As a non-fireball, non-charge character with few links (most of them being 1 or 2 framers), Adon is not a beginner character at all.

JK is really not OP at all even if you have someone in the corner you have to make sure you pick the right JK for the distance your at. And it is easy as hell to just neutral jump in the corner and catch adon as he lands from it.

Adon always has and always will be difficult to pick up and execute properly. Put it this way in this game JT is completely useless against anyone other then a complete scrub due to the fact all they have to do is jump back fierce.

So please before people try to make themelves feel better about losing to adon by saying he is easy to use post some vids or your adons beating good people so we can all see just how “easy” he is.

Adon is pretty easy to execute outside iAJK. And even then you don’t need it in most matchups.
However he requires very good spacing, and is largely made effective by your abillity to read the playstyle of your opponent. I’d say not reading his exact moves, just understanding his tendencies quickly enough then unleashing the barrage that will decimate that playstile. He has to play a vastly different game depending of the opponent and matchup.

Also, you will have matches where your patience is really put to the test.

In conclusion, Adon is an easy character to pick up if you have a strong foundation and familliarity with SF, but if you don’t, you’re better off playing someone else.

And yes, jaguar kicks are fuckin godlike.

Just because people can mash JT and RJ doesnt make him easy to execute.

Its not that hard to select the appropriate JK for the appropriate distance. Once you get them in the corner, just wait for them to react rather than spamming JK. If they try and jump out then hk.JK will smack them back in. If they neutral jump, then just lk.RJ. If they do nothing, than just chip them with it or neutral jump to bait a reversal. Just make sure you hit them at max distance. If your using JK appropriately then they should have no idea when your about to throw it out.

Not that easy, especially if they have a DP or something, they can just mash that bitch lol
