Anytime I go enter a forum, and see a post in all caps I know it’s not a place I’m supposed to be. I don’t expect moderators to be perfect, but as long as mods are active and relatively consistent boards are usually worth reading.
I notice a lot of people don’t know how to deal with a difference of opinion…so for a lot of them a bad message board is one where any person disagrees with them.
When i used to follow pokemon and watch various vids the caster would 95% of the time complain about any disabler type move or crits. Its annoying as shit.
I don’t think smogon would exist now if toxic+wrap combo was still uber. Gamefreak has made those random effects easier to deal with and those bitches still complain.

/b/ is pure shit now. It is literally the same damn topics every day, but with spam bots. You might as well visit /v/ since it’s becoming … well, /b/. /vg/ is alright, I guess. Fighting generals have some reasonable people but it’s mostly just a bunch of chucklefucks. /a/ is somehow a good read every now and then. For all of the wrong reasons, but let’s ignore that.
I think I’m gonna agree with the guy who pointed out the fetish forums. I’ve had the misfortune of following links from friends trolling me, and just…man, holy shit. People there are scary. I’m surprised they don’t use Tor…if only to mask who they are.
Runner up: Schthack forums. I know some of you guys play PSO, so this is probably familiar to a few. Well, they make SRK seem pretty nice.
It’s no problem to avoid bad forums and it’s no mystery why they exist.

70% of the threads are fanboy threads for certain players or teams. Another 20% is dedicated to how much they hate LoL or HoN. 10% of actual quality strategy threads though.

Neogaf is kind of inherently obnoxious. The whole ‘you can’t get an account in anything resembling a reasonable amount of time unless you know the right people’ is something I am not a huge fan of.
