Worst fighting game system?(or engine, if you prefer)Why that one?

as I was saying earlier:

Regarding design, that fighter was original back in the day. It was released in 1995 I think.
high res HQ cartoon graphics, in constrast to pixellated characters most other fighters had, including arcades. Also it was perhaps the only fighter for Windows 3.1!

But the fighting mechanics were so primitive and clumsy, that I wonder how I managed to beat it at that time.
Set up a virtual Windows 98 environment for this game few months ago and I couldnt endure even 1 minute

There’s a lot of really awful 16-bit shovelware and arcade SF/MK clones but if you’re delusional if you expect this thread to be anything but flamebait.

Ontop of showing you the moves before hand. I think it even shows it for the CPU on your side too, I think. I’ll have to play again to check.

The ending uses Ode to Joy. Super/Rough Ranger (made by the same company) did a bootleg Rolling Thunder that uses Bolero. SunA sure likes borrowing music and stuff. Yup.

So you never really played A2 then? Tell me; have you ever done a custom combo in A2?

I’d have to say the Art Of Fighting series. While the power gauge was a revolutionary and innovative feature at the time, it also meant your usage of special moves was extremely limited and you were charging up constantly and taunting your opponent so they lose their meter. Another problem was the control layout, the strength of attacks was dependent on how hard you hit the button, which was extremely annoying. It’s a really hard game to poke and play footsies in since your tools are so limited. To make things worse, not many normals were cancelable either.

AOF had some nice designs though that at least lived on in KOF (Robert, King, Mr.Big, etc).

Probably not I guess. I didn’t really go in depth with it. I only played arcade mode and it just didn’t click with me mainly because I’ve been playing A3 long time before I tried A2. I’m probably being biased but I still couldn’t click with it. Plus, it doesn’t have my favorite character haha.

Alpha 2 you say?

Best. Fighting. Game. Ever*

Even better than CvS*.

**No, I didn’t miss the 2 off…

Well, well, well. I see why you showed me those videos… :>
Edit: If you don’t get it, watch the first two videos to the end.

As a Juri sub, I always loved Alpha 2/3 and the CVS games as a kid.

Still though, ever since Mike Z got started on Skullgirls, he’s been kind of bashing Arcsys games like crazy. When he started he dropped Blazblue and talked about how bad it was, and now to be going on about how bad P4A is? I dunno. Both the Blazblue games and P4A are good, and Skullgirls has potential, but even with SG being his baby, I don’t see the need to go on the attack against other fighters.

And the worst fighting game engine ever? I present you two strong offenders. Ballz 3D, and Sonic The Fighters.

Def Jam: Icon
Time Killers
Clay Fighter

Saying Sonic the Fighters engine is bad is saying VF2, Last Bronx, Fighting Vipers engine is bad. I’m sure you mean the systems/subsystems of the game.
