You can punish neutral jumps with ex duck on reaction. Straight if you react early. Upper if you’re close enough other wise HP+back will make you whiff into a punish super/ultra ect.

If you think they are going to ex headbutt and you have ultra in a safe jump situation, just block and punish with ultra. If they don’t have meter or you think they’ll buttslam, OS mk duck into your jump in. You’ll go under butt slam and get a free whiff punish.

Keep Honda out the air, punish neutral jumps with ex duck upper and use DP, Cross Counter, and St mk to keep him from jumping directly at you.

Yeah, this matchup is shitty.

Ok, so it’s been a while since I’ve played this game, much less Dudley (Marriage=gg). Here’s footage of a tournament I got 4th in. It was on 360 so I wasn’t used to the 2 frame difference. For not having touched this game in months, I was pretty happy with my overall placement and performance. I am definitely going to the lab now that we have somewhat of a scene here where I live. Critique away!

Yo,
So, I’m not too good at it, but let see…

  • You seems pretty good at anti airing (aa) at the start of the rounds, but seems to forget about it a little bit later on. Best case, Sakura get free pressure on you, worst case, she gets full painful combo (which what happened in some matches). It looked like you try to uppercut when the jump is obvious, that’s good.

  • Maybe it’s just lack of match up experience, but try to block more against Sakura, which you actually started doing in the later matches. Throw doesn’t hurt that much, and I’m not sure what kind of setups she has from those. On the other hand, her frame traps and throw baits hurt as hell, so unless you have great read about it, just block. Maybe try to consider backdashing more as a defensive tool (outside of your wakeup), still need to be careful as she will try safe hail marry ex tatsu. (so dumb)

  • I feel you try to do stuff on wake up, can’t say I’m too fond of this, try to block more, might help to see the other player’s pattern.

  • You punished block srk with s.rh ex mgb, maybe it’s just online punishment, but you should really hurt her more when she does this. (f.mk s.mp s.rh I think)

  • Something was weird about your footsies, can’t put my hand on it.

  • You should work on you execution a bit more, but great ex straight combo in the corner there!

  • I feel you think to highly about Sakura’s fireball game (and take ultra 1 for it?). Sakura’s fb are quite bad, just block/focus some to get the feeling and slowly close the distance, if she starts charging them in your face, just jump on her (as you did toward the end).

That all I have i think, keep up with the good work!

You have absolutely no neutral game.
Work on anti airs and walking forward (from my pov you just look like you don’t know what you want to do, and it shows whenever you land a hit you just go wild like you don’t have any/much experience playing vs people)

Are you really trying to do c.LK>MK target combo as oki?
You canceling that into LP MGB every time as a ghetto OS?

You can use c.LP, c.LK+MK to OS sakura’s sweep and reversals, you’ll recover in time to block everything.

You’re doing too much at once, like. Only use 2-3 anti airs. Looks like you’re grab bagging anti airs every time Sakura jumps.
Try s.MK EX Duck Upper, and LP Jet Upper those are like the top 3

No need for tut this time around you’re going in the right direction.

Honestly just watch tut and go into the lab and practice your hit confirms with random blocking on and try to learn to do Dudley’s punish combos instead of punishing with throw. From what I saw, you didn’t really put on any wakeup pressure, which is a huge part of Dudley’s game. You gotta put the fear in their hearts. That’s how Dudley can get away with pressuring people. Overall I would say just tut and watch good Dudley players (34, chaotix, smug, kuroken) and just get a feel for when, where, and why they press the buttons that they press.

Need help with Dudley. Used to play with Guile and had around 1500-2000 BP but then took a break from AE for a couple of months, made a new PSN and picked up Dudley as I liked Dudleys rushdown but now every time I go online, I don’t even win one match.

Start working on your basic:

  • You are not getting your ducks, you need to be able to perform all the special 100/100.

  • Try not to throw random moves (EX mgb)

  • You should punish stuff.

First, watch tut, it will cover all dudley’s basic tools, and more.

To say the truth, you have a long way to go, but start with grinding the basics, perform all his special, know your combos.

And especially tut.

Thanks for the tips. Will defiantly work on those points. I can perform all special 100% of the time, the only one I have trouble with is the duck, were if I’m pressured I can’t do it 100% of the time.

Been playing a few matches and learnt a lot from the tut and I think its safe to say that I’m improving a little bit at a time.

it seems like you’ve improved I watched the earlier vid when you posted it. My biggest advice would be that most matchups using dudley you should be no more than half screen from the opponent including evil ryu. learn to stand your ground especially when your health is down. no reason you should be full screen.
