Woman runs over and kills kid riding his bicycle, sues his family for "pain and suffering"

Even if that were true (its a moot point), its kind of pathetic that any sort of news involving the criminal justice system inevitably sparks a debate about gender bias so long as their is a woman at the center of the story. And that is really the only thing going on here; a woman is at the center of this controversy, thus we must drudge up this tired fucking debate once more. Come back and make that argument when the lawsuit succeeds, and a similar lawsuit fails when it is pursued by a man.

(So, what, there can’t be any talk about gender bias then?)

Or is the perceived problem that it just tends to “always” come up when there’s a woman involved in some legal proceeding that makes no sense? I can understand the frequency with which it comes up being grating perhaps and I can understand disliking actual misogyny, but that’s different from gender bias not actually existing. Whether it actually plays a part here since she’s married to a cop, fine, I’m admit that the gender bias is far more debatable here than with the aforementioned rape case (given all the statutory rape or worse charges on young men who have done far less) or, say, the Casey Anthony case (though that also had other issues too).

We’ll see if this succeeds; I’d rather like to think it wouldn’t, though I wouldn’t be surprised. I think people are just being more incensed about the fact that’s being entertained at all rather than being immediately dismissed given it’s obvious bullshit irrespective of gender. So we’ll see on that front.

In the meantime, I guess I could look to see if there’s been a similar case with a man even though it’s difficult to find a lack of something, which makes it a bit unfair to ask that, especially when success wasn’t issue (yet), but whatever.

Well when a notable statistical trend can be visibly observed that completely undermines the criminal justice system in a way that disproportionately favours 1 class of people over the other…it’s gonna get attention. As much as I’m sure people like you would like to sweep glaring biases like this aside because of the threat they pose to certain “narratives” , people are not willing to overlook the disturbing regularity of female rapist/pedophiles/murders/ getting lighter sentencing all because of what they have between their legs. As much as you whine that it shouldn’t be a gender issue it invariably becomes one once the consequences (or lack thereof) are handed down. Besides if the reverse were true of male criminals lets not pretend every women’s organization world wide wouldn’t be marching down the streets demanding this nonsense got addressed.

Sorry for insulting the poor women though I know its the sacred cow for some folks on here.

What statistics are you using to base that post on?

You know how this is gonna end

Here you are mate have fun:)

Some of ya niggas have this shit twisted. It doesn’t matter whether it was a man or woman who caused this. This selfish, twisted fucker decided to sue the family after already killing their son. Does she really think the only person to suffer any sort of mental anguish in this situation??? Like seriously?

I guess what I’m trying to say is I get the impression a lot of people on SRK read these threads looking for a woman getting off light, and when you’re looking for that specifically, you might oversimplify issues and ignore class privilege, or white privilege, or whatever other factors, because you WANT to find gender privilege. That on its own is annoying, but we all do it. But there isn’t even a ruling yet that you can point to and say “look, that happened cause shes a woman!”, and I think thats telling of peoples’ eagerness to axe grind more so than discuss this individual story.

and when you’re looking for that specifically, you might oversimplify issues and ignore class privilege, or white privilege, or whatever other factors, because you WANT to find gender privilege.

Except academic research and cross referenced studies have proven conclusively that the mitigating factor is gender. This isn’t a case of looking into obscure irrelevant details such as the person being right or left handed but rather a case of noticing that people with vaginas are getting vastly lighter sentences for the same crimes as people with penises.

As stated before it would be nice if this case existed in a vaccum away from the statistical evidence but unfortunately reality is reality. There is no axe to grind in simply pointing out the facts. If anything I would guess there is more of a axe to grind to the person continuously ignoring the dynamics of gender bias all because it doesn’t swing in the direction they want…but that’s just my 2 cents.

I think everyone is missing the bigger issue here, arguing over gender privilege and greed and whatnot. The point is that women are terrible drivers and society is at fault for allowing them to get behind the wheel. This terrible tragedy would have been avoided if a man was driving that night.

I’d also like to take this time to state that the State of the Union is due to women, and the only time women should be allowed near the ballot boxes is if they are providing sandwiches to weary voters.

You know the answer just like I do. All of the above.

I once said SRK needed a facepalm button, I stand by it.

If you take gender out of the title it’s still bad:
