Friedman who works for Fox News (Fox is behind this movie) downloaded an illegal copy of X-Men Origins Wolverine, gave it a bad review and got fired!

Oh right I’m betting you’ve never actually watched Fox News lol! It’s the source of comedy for lots of shows like The Colbert Report, The Daily Show with John Stewart, Real Time With Bill Maher, etc. There’s A LOT of stupidity on Fox News. This isn’t that surprising considering.

I watched it yesterday with out special effects.
Overall it was decent, wolverine, sabertooth and gambit were very cool.
Now, the movie was decent UNTIL the last 10 minutes. Honestly, the last 10 minutes of that film were as horrible as watching the last 10 minutes of X Men 3. Yes, it was that bad, I recommend walking out while the movie is still good.
I agree the last 10 mins are terrible and deadpool all I can say is WTF !
So the Wolverine movie will have three different endings and you won’t know what ending your theater will get until you go see it on the big screen. I guess this is how they are going to combat piracy.
So yeah I hope I get an ending where Deadpool looks like Deadpool… :looney:

Hugh Jackman is playing Wolverine? Wow didn’t know that. Living in a cave for 30 years I sure missed a lot…
Terrible film. The movie would of been MUCH better if instead of sabretooth being the villian it was Deadpool and if they got rid of Cyclops and just had Gambit be Wolvies partner or have a bigger role.
Here’s a very basic plot outline and a few points about the movie:
[spoiler=] Movie was overall a disappointment some CGI scenes looked pretty terrible and they kept needlessly forcing the X-Men connect but to sum up the movie in a nutshell plotwise: Victor/Logan grow up as brothers going through each major war conlifct in history (Civil War, WWI, WWII, Vietnam/Korea) Victor/Sabretooth loving the war life gets bloodlust and tries to rape an innocent villager his platoon tries to stop him but he ends up killing a few members then Logan jumps in to protect his brother they get court martialed and are given death by firing squad.
They survive and are locked up, then Stryker comes and offers them a way out of their cell by joining his team of mutants (Agent Zero, Wraith, Deadpool, Blob, Wolverine and Sabretooth) they work together for an undisclosed amount of time when they’re sent to africa where Stryker is searching for adamantium they track down the village that found it, and when the locals refuse to talk Sabretooth goes in a frenzy and tries to kill them (with most of the team doing the same) Wolverine stops the slaughter and quits.
Time passes and Wolverine is a logger then Stryker shows up telling him someone is killing his old teammates and that they need him. Wolverine tells him to fuck off then Sabretooth shows up and kills Logan’s wife, Logan seeks out Stryker telling him to do whatever he needs to do for him to get his revenge on Sabretooth. Stryker claims he did not know it was Sabretooth going after his former teammates and vowed to help Logan. They give him the adamantium skeleton but when Stryker says “erase his memory” Wolverine busts out and finds an old couple (supposed to be the Hudsons) they care for him then Agent Zero snipes and kills them both and Wolverine escapes taking down the helicopter Agent Zero was on and killing him.
Wolverine tracks Wraith and with Blob’s help he learns Stryker works out of an island designed to experiment on mutants (Genosha) and that after Logan quit the team they were hunting down mutants for Stryker. The only one mutant ever escaped and that was Gambit (and at somepoint Cylops is captured by Sabretooth and taken to the same island) during this time Sabretooth kills Wraith. With Gambit’s help Wolverine tracks down Stryker and then the big bombshell Logan’s wife was never killed but she pretended to love Wolverine in order to keep him in check for Stryker and that shes a mutant herself with the power of tacticle hypnosis. And that Stryker set the whole thing up to get Wolverine to take the skeleton and become Weapon X. Wolvie walks away but is convinced to help free the trapped mutants which include Cyclops.
And the last 10 minutes is basically Deadpool v.2 was implanted with a huge array of other mutants powers, Wraith’s teleporting, Cyclops eye beam and has 2 huge katanas embedded into his arms. Sabretooth after realizing he’s been used the whole time and being sandbagged helps Wolverine take down Deadpool and for a time they call a truce. Wolverine sees his dying wife (got shot while trying to help the mutant children escape) runs to her at the sametime Stryker shows up and doms him with an adamantium bullet and tries to shoot Logan’s wife but since she touched his leg she made him walk forever. During that time Xavier makes a cameo outside the facility where all the children escaped to and its learned he was giving Cyclops mental directions.
Wolverine wakes up with his memory gone (I guess the bullet is logged in his brain or something?) the military begins to show up and Gambit convinces Wolvie to go with him to get the hell out before the military catches them. A time later its shown that Stryker is still walking and the military catch up to him and accuse him of war crimes.
I left a few things out but this is pretty much the gist of it.
Agent Zero/Maverick is sent out to take out Wolverine after they added the damantium and fails. Stryker is shown saying something along the lines of “Oh I knew he’d fail because you see… the only thing that can stop Logan are these a ADAMANTIUM BULLETS.” … THEN WHY THE FUCK DID YOU NOT GIVE THOSE TO ZERO WHEN HIS JOB WAS TO ELIMENATE WOLVERINE?
They turned Deadpool into a mixed Mortal Kombat character with Barraka claws and Kano laser eyes. And he could teleport to. Deadpool’s role in the movie WAY TOO SHORT.
Sabretooth was pretty dead on but Deadpool’s comedy and ruthlessiness would of been a better fit imo.
Cyclops and all the other mutants trapped on the island were pointless, Xavier looked weird as fuck since they CG’d his face to make him look younger.[/spoiler]

all in all I enjoyed it. coming in with low expectations and not having read the wolverine orgins comic will do that. I know they had to change some things here and there to make the movie work so I’m not too upset about it.
wonders if they’ll do another movie when he’s brought into Alpha Flight, also when he tries to take down Omega Red (forgetting which team he was with then)

I dunno I thought the movie was pretty good actually. It felt pretty disassociated with X-Men which was there plan I’m guessing. I’ve never really known what the Canon plot for Wolverine’s past was and I was pretty disappointed that the second film didn’t really go into the details of his past so with that in mind this film was pretty good for making a past for him.
I don’t think I’ll ever be able to see it as comparable to the first two X-men movies though.
I thought it was alright. Not the greatest thing ever but still better than X-Men 3 which is all I was expecting and hoping for. X-Men 2 is still the best movie based on X-Men IMHO so in that regard not much has changed.
Forget every comic you’ve ever read, turn your brain off (waaaaay off), tell yourself it’s just Hollywood movie continuity and you’ll be fine.
I give it 3 Adamantium Claws out of 6 I guess. Which is like a 3 out of 5 or a 5 out of 10, I dunno…

DP underneath the rubble, his stiched up mouth was open and he said “Shhh!” So long as they give DP his own movie and he loses the stupid powers he got in this one but keeps the healing factor I’m cool with everything else. At least he can talk again, 'cuz c’mon…
I saw the movie with my kids, they enjoyed it much more than I did.

Allright, I’d like to give my thoughts on this movie, which I saw Saturday. I tried to have low expectations for this movie, after the last X-Men movie, which was ridiculous. Although, at the same time, since it’s supposed to be an ORIGINS movie, I figured they would’ve gone into detail and did a lot of character development.
But of course, Fox screws it up AGAIN. It’s also surprising because I saw in an interview with the director Gavin Hood saying that the character development was one of the things that was important to them and what drew him to this movie.
As a pure action film, this movie was good. For character development, story, accuracy, that all went out the window after the first, eh, 10 minutes of the movie?
It’s funny because I thought the first 10 minutes of the movie was beautifully done through the opening credits. [spoiler=] With Logan and Victor having run away, and how it shows them growing up, fighting in the wars, Logan having to hold Victor back as Victor is embracing the beast within, while Logan tries to be a good human being.[/spoiler]
This movie was basically talking for a minute, then an action/fight sequence. Talk for a minute, action/fight sequence. There was very little development of the characters and the story. No in depth discussion as to what Weapon X really was, not to mention the accuracy of the characters and the story. But hey, it’s Fox. They haven’t gotten it right even since the first damn movie. For the record though, I thought the actors chosen for this movie were fine, and they did a good job given the little development they all got. I thought Liev Schreiber was great as Sabretooth.
And like most others, I’m disgusted how they ruined ma boy Gambit. I thought Taylor Kitsch was good as Gambit. Accent was a little iffy, but whatever. His kinetic energy ability charges objects, launches his card projectiles, and BLOW THEM UP, not just cause some energy surge or some stupid shit like they had.
This was yet another movie where they just tried to squeeze in too many characters and didn’t develop them at all. I understand there’s only so much they can do with the amount of characters in a 2 hour movie, but this movie was KIND of short for being a supposed Origins movie. If they could’ve added 15-20 more minutes, or even a half hour, and not have forced feed Gambit, Blob, Emma Frost, Cyclops into this flick, and at least TRIED to accurately elaborate on the rest of the characters and Weapon X, then so be it.
TDK was 2 1/2 hours, Iron Man was 2 hours 6 min., and this was 1 hour, 47 min.
The only reason I have any hope for the Magneto Origins movie is that the director was one of the writers for TDK, so we’ll see. X-Men needs a reboot in a few years, and hopefully the “First Class” movie that’s being discussed about Jean, Scott, Beast, Iceman, etc. can be that reboot. Just take it one movie at a time and develop certain characters PROPERLY instead of forcing half the character universe into one movie, but again, this is Fox we’re talkin about, so either somethin will have to click in their head, or we can hope someone else gets the rights to this franchise.

With the Magneto movie on the one hand, the Magneto Testament book would make an excellent film.
Problem with a movie version is that they will want to tie it in too much to movie events. So it will go a lot farther then being just a concentration camp story but it will deal with him meeting Xavier and lots of other things which to me are not as interesting compared to what was told in Magneto Testament.
Kind of like how I feel that if Wolverine’s movie focused more on Origin and less of everything else then it would’ve been a better film, but they have a need to tie everything into the X-movies so we wind up getting what he got.
And the movies made the mistake of giving Magneto his fake Gypsy name Erik Lehnsherr, when that name was tossed out as a forgery long ago. The Lehnsherr thing was a Marvel plot to make Magneto a Gypsy instead of Jewish. At one point they went as far as changing his concentration camp numbers so they matched those of a Gypsy camp. Because someone was bothered about one of their greatest villains being Jewish… Whenever Claremont got his hands on Magneto he would throw the Gypsy thing away because he feels Magneto’s character works better being Jewish and he’s 100% right. To this day comic book writers still mess up and call him Erik here and there even though IMHO that is wrong. It somehow didn’t bother them to have another villain that was a Gypsy when they already had Doctor Doom. I suppose if they do an origin movie they can still say Erik was a forgery of sorts and give him the Jewish name he was given in Testament - Max Eisenhardt.
The last problem is… For some reason Hollywood and cartoons nowadays tend to shy away from showing Nazi symbols, especially when something is PG-13 or lower. I have no idea why that is. Happened during X-Men Evolution when they had dual plus signs, happened during Justice League when the symbol was replaced with something else (though JL handled the situation much better). In the English dub of the Naruto anime, they can’t show the sign Neji has on his head on TV even though it is a reverse symbol of the nazi sign. Trying to recall what flick it was but there was a live action Jackie Chan movie that dealt with WW2 and the symbols were also gone. I think the entire situation is stupid but I don’t think a Magneto movie is going to do anything different, I’m betting nazi symbols will be gone. I suppose messing up history is fine so long as you don’t expose kiddies to an evil symbol that they will come across in a history book eventually.
