3S’s tier structure is quite similar to Garou’s, with Ken/Yun/Chun being the only solid spots; after that, it’s pretty wide-open (some place Urien as high as #4, some as low as #7. Some place Makoto as high as #2, some as low as #6)

That’s a pretty similar structure to Garou’s, with a large upper-mid tier of characters that do well against the high-upper tier.
I understand, and using MvC2 to illustrate your point is good (due to the disparity between tiers and characters), but you used 3S in your original post re: Garou’s tiers, which is flat out wrong.

Really? I’ve been lurking the Garou thread since '05, DLing Howard Arena vids, and I thought it was generally accepted that Kevin was tops (ala Yun in 3S). I’m playing it because it’s the easiest game to transition to from 3S. A tiny bit less throwing in Garou, but a lot of similar concepts and mechanics are shared. I like it. We’ll play some at MWC in June.

Webster, losing is a part of playing the game. Don’t throw a fit just because they got the best of you that day. If every competitor quit after they lost in their respective arena, we wouldn’t have any sports/gaming at all; everyone would be at home sulking.
Your tourney sounds like it’s going to be hype; and I’ll definitely be playing Garou a ton. Try to focus on upcoming positives, not negatives in the past.

I’m going to be stuck in Green Bay over the end of next month so I doubt I’ll be able to make the regional. I’ll do everything I can to be at the next one though.
I don’t know much about Garou, I’ve only played it a little. I always like the way Jenet felt though, why is she so good. I’d always heard that Kevin was top.

I have a LOTS of practicing for the up coming tournaments. But I just got a copy of Mario Kart Wii…and it’s fucking amazing…so I hope that doesn’t eat up too much of my time.

With T6 just moments away in Racine, we have to set up a huge tournament soon. Maybe we can get affiliated with www.sdtekken.com or something…but first the game has to come (and I’m 90% sure it is).
