Magic is awesome. Although, knowing it has a finite lifespan saddens me sometimes.
I have spent a lot of money on mtg. After I played in a couple of tournaments, I decided that it wasn’t worth my money. The whole cycling out blocks and all that…I think that’s what you were referring to there. It’s just bullshit. I feel like there’s a bunch of nerds in suits pulling cash out of my pocket. The artwork is cool, though, and the game is fun as hell.
That’s why I play Legacy and Vintage; nothing ever rotates out which allows you to play virtually any card you want to play with (always fun) and gives your collection meaning. I was actually referring to the fact that eventually, MtG will end. Whether it’s due to power creep, bankruptcy, etc., Magic will eventually die. It’s not a classic game like Chess or Checkers, due to Magic’s inherent collectible (and $$$$) aspect of it.
TCG seems like a painful hobby. Do you have a drawer full of cards, too?

I ended up getting back into Magic (Standard, nonetheless), but I mostly just play pauper (all common and maybe a few uncommon) decks so I don’t spend stupid amounts of cash.
We’ll have to go to Kyoto (near my place) one of these days. They’re pretty awesome.
So now, I got a room with two TVs set up in there. If someone brings a TV we can get one more in there and it’ll be sweet. There’s also a balcony, for you smokers.
