Wii Thread 4.0, WEEUWEEUWEEUWEE!

thinks…nope I don’t recall anything in particular being posted before about a new blaster master. I do remember about Sunsoft coming back though. That game looks pretty good too and this is really short notice since it’s coming out this Monday. Yeah it looks like they JUST announced it today by the looks of things on the website. Very nice surprise.

Edit:

Awesome find io!

I just stole the info from the gaf forum haha.

Here’s a gameplay vid of blaster master

7.0 Most of the complaints came from the game being ‘incredibly bland and dated’. Though he does think the game is better than it’s predecessors…dunno if that’s saying much.

Doesn’t look like they’re gonna put up the Red Steel 2 info today…hopefully it’ll show up tomorrow.

January 2010 NPD:

I knew Darksiders had sold well but I wasn’t expecting it to show up in the top 10. I’m definitely looking forward to the sequal. NSMB Wii is at the top followed by Mass Effect 2. I’m also surprised that Just Dance showed up on this list as well and semi surprised at Army of Two (360). Everything else on the list are the usual suspsects. Kind of sad that Bayonetta didn’t show up but eh…

Hardware went Wii (465,800), DS (422,200), 360 (332,800), PS3 (276,900), PSP (100,100), PS2 (41,600). Sony needs to hurry up and restock stores with PS3’s because the demand is definitely there. We’ve been selling out of them quickly.

7.8 He didn’t like trying to use the wii balance board for it. Didn’t like a good chunk of the minigames and had small issues with the camera.

Japan Numbers 2/12/10

God Eater for the PSP is # 1 this week. NSMB got dropped to #4 with DQ VI and Star Ocean (PS3) ahead of it. KH is at 9 and no 360 games showed up in the top 10 this week.

Hardware went PSP, Wii, DSi LL, PS3, DSi, Lite, 360, PS2, and Go.

i dont know why, but I am looking forward to playing this game. The first one sucked, though, so I reserve excitement until after I am willing to beat it after a few hours of play.

I wonder why it took them so long to release this.

Alot of people have reservations about Red Steel 2 based off of 1 but most don’t take certain things into account. Ubisoft was the first developer to try to make an FPS using the wii’s motion controls so imo they should at least get a pass on that since it was uncharted territory. Nowadays though with Wii MotionPlus and games like Metroid Prime 3 and The Conduit, any FPS now that comes out after these games doesn’t have a good excuse not to have good controls. I have a good amount of confidence in the second title partly because of this. Impressions so far have been pretty positive but it’s always good to hear more feedback so I want to see how far this game has come since last anyone has touched it.

It’s not a port…it’s being built from the ground up. They might be taking this game seriously lol.

Xenoblade Detailed:

It doesn’t really have much to do with the Xenosaga series but it still sounds pretty damn awesome to me. Promised at 50-60 hour experience…battles take place on the field with no random encounters. This game will also hit this Spring in Japan so we’ll definitely have more gameplay and details around then.

IGN Blaster Master Overdrive review:

6.5 wasn’t expecting this at all. complaints about save points and the game being too firmly rooted in the past and he’s not a fan of the controls. Anyone else who’s had a chance to play this got an opinion?

GT Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll review

5.4 They were way more harsh on the game

Calling - Exclusive Sadness Developer Diary

Xenoblade sounds awesome. NO MORE FUCKING TEN YEAR CUTSCENES.

Quote from the review: "It’s pretty frustrating when you are killed and lose a considerable amount of progress merely because the last save point was way back in another area of the map . Games are supposed to be fun, of course – if they are frustrating, it’s a big problem. Overdrive is a reminder that games have gotten easier over the years, and I think they are more fun for it. Dying is also a time sink because instead of letting you continue right from your last save point the game kicks you back to the title screen and makes you load again."

Obviously this cat is pretty bitch-made and didn’t play games on the NES. I like my games difficult…easy ass games are boring.

And yes, Xenoblade does sound dope as fuck.

^ That’s what I was thinking as I was reading it so I wanted to hear from someone who has played it.

quick update before I head to work

Disney Might’ve Put Epic Mickey on Natal:
http://wii.ign.com/articles/107/1070103p1.html

If Natal was thought of back when they started the project they would have put it on that. The way they also worded some things in the interview made it seem like Epic Mickey may be a timed exclusive. Probably going to depend on how Natal and Wand work out commercially.

I wonder how people who have played the import feel about this game so far.

:u: I don’t know about Sony’s motion wand yet, but Natal is actually a lot more complicated than most people realize. Aside from motion tracking (what it actually does is affix a “skeleton” to your body so that it recognizes who you are), it also tracks things like temperature, audio, and other objects in the vicinity (like other people or chairs or whatever else happens to be nearby). That’s cool and all, but it’s also extremely complicated?or so I hear?and I imagine all but the very best devs are going to have problems with it early on. Even testing on Natal is going to be a nightmare, since it tracks so much; how do you know your game didn’t crash because someone walked by and raised the ambient temperature, for example? You don’t. Shit’s going to be a ridiculous for a while.

Hey, guys. Can you guys think of any Wii games that were ported to PS3? I already know about No More Heroes, so anything other than that. Thanks.

^ hmmm… I’m wondering would The Grinder count since it started out as a Wii exclusive but it hasn’t been released yet. I can’t think any other games off the top of my head since most of the good exclusive titles on the Wii haven’t really been ported. That could change starting at the end of next year…I wouldn’t be surprised if a few of the 3rd Party exclusives showed up on Sony’s console…depending on how the thing works and if there’s been any significant changes to it come E3.

IGN Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Hands-on
http://wii.ign.com/articles/107/1070203p1.html

said it mostly feels like Mario Kart but it’s definitely a Sega Racer. Surprisingly it looks like the PS3 version is the one getting the shaft with no exclusive content and the 360 version sounds like the best one overall. Wii version has everything that it’s 360/PS3 cousins has with Mii Support and of course runs at a lower resolution. Also stated that the game seems to have a small framerate issue that the Wii version isn’t being plagued with the most. Sounds like this is a ‘pick your poison’ situation if you ask me lol. review goes up next weeik

Edit:

This is something interesting that Sep posted in the PS3 thread

PS3 benefitting from Wii publisher backlash
http://www.industrygamers.com/news/ps3-benefiting-from-wii-publisher-backlash/

I find it interesting because I almost feel like for Nintendo it’s a ‘Damned if you do, damned if you don’t’ situation. The fact that Nintendo’s software does so well is both a gift and a curse for them since it seems the Wii crowd is finicky as fuck.

Complainers: We don’t have any hardcore games!
Publishers: Ok here’s Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and Dead Space…there that oughta shut you up!
Complainers: get big pouty faces and don’t buy the games and/or pirate
Publishers: oh COME ONNNN!

I mean seriously…There was that huge ass gap last year where there was barely anything Nintendo coming out and 3rd Parties had a good time to shine and there were a good number of heavy hitters that came out. I da know what to do besides just sit back and laugh at the shenanigans going on currently. I bet a big chunk of it is pirating cause it almost seems that I can’t go a week without hearing about how someone heavily modded their Wii and how they have all these games for it. I’m hoping this whole thing is some type of learning experience for Nintendo for whenever their next console debuts as long as they don’t get a big head about having pwned everything else sales wise.

Publishers are also going to have to come to grips with something that seems to be at least 95% absolute. YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BEAT MARIO. The game could probably be ‘Mario takes a shit’ and the chances of it beating out your game sales wise is ridiculous…They already proved that last year with NSMB. I still want to see what TVC and NMH2’s numbers are but I’m not sure. MadWorld is actually still being made so it probably still selling slowly.

/end small rant

Japan Numbers 2/20/10

Some things changed and some stayed the same. Zangeki No Reginleiv broke the top 10 at #9. God Eater is going on it’s second week at the top with DQIV and NSMB Wii following after it. The newcomers include this game for the DS with a long ass name that i’m assuming has to do with Tennis, Quiz Magic Academy for the DS, Star Ocean 4 International, and Sacred 2 for PS3. Neither version of Resonance of Fate (End of Eternity) showed up at top 10 this week interestingly enough.

Hardware went PSP, Wii, DSi LL, PS3, DSi, Lite, 360, PS2, Go. Nintendo fanboys need to shut up…it’s pretty obvious that all 3 versions of the DS combined do exceed PSP’s numbers and it doesn’t need to get pointed out every time.

GT Blaster Master: Overdrive review

4.8 Again they were a tad bit more harsh on the game even though their review had some of the same complaints to IGN’s. If you happen to decide to download and play it then give your thoughts.
