Those who have been lurking and thinking of buying a Wii may want to look into a deal at GS that I believe is going to start on Thurs and end on Sun. When you buy a New system you get to grab a free new game…that’s included with the wii sports game that’s already in with the Wii. Not any new title though but suprisingly there’s actually some good games…MadWorld is one of them.
I’ve been pretty busy but there’s a flood of vids/info and what not from the couple of days that people may have missed…I’ll work on gathering them.

The Conduit so far has less than 100,000 sales. Don’t know what the exact numbers are. They also mention about the cheaters in Conduit and said HVS is unsure if they can patch it right now.
Matt is going to visit Retro soon…so I hope he can at least squeeze something out of them on what they’re doing.
Talking about how great playing MP1 and MP2 with IR point controls.
The only really big complaint about Spyborgs is the simple fact that it’s a brawler…meaning if you find beat em ups to be repetitive then you’re not going to enjoy this game. There’s no hook or gimmick for this game…It’s just solid.
They mention about the fact that their review is the exact average of Uk’s and AU’s on Wii Sports Resort and say it’s just coincidental lol.

But seriously, it’s fun and if enough people get it, that means more games that don’t suck.
I’m sorry but I’m just not a fan of shooters, and on the rare occasion that I do feel like playing one I want the mouse+keyboard combo.
it’s still pretty soon and under 100k isn’t really bad…it’s just that in comparison to most 3rd party titles on the other 2 have an easier job of getting sales.
I also believe that it could be a few things. One thing is that I’ve witnessed is just through experience with working in the store and people who own wii’s looking at the wall and don’t really know what’s good on the system. Little King’s story came out today and I realized that we didn’t have 1 reserve for it and nobody came to pick it up who besides 1 person…who only heard about it because of she was friend’s with another employee who does a a good chunk of research on games like I do.
Some custumers also have been tired of getting burned on 3rd party shovelware and are now skeptic as hell on anything that isn’t tied to directly tied to Nintendo.
There’s also that the simple idea that’s been brought up before that Conduit isn’t really bringing anything new to the table besides filling a gap in the Wii’s library despite how much elbow grease HVS put into the title.
The base that would buy this type of game probably could also not quite be there or most of it left. I base this because I know the base is or was there in some compacity…otherwise No More Heroes or HOTD: Overkill wouldn’t have sold well. I know there’s also a lot of people who are waiting out on buying one until certain games come out…I wonder how many people’s eyes lit up when Other M showed up at E3? The Wii is going to have a nice string of hardcore titles coming out starting from Sept all the way into the beginning of next year so there is the chance that the people who nab a wii for any of these titles may try to go back and see what they missed…may end up being too late though.
On a side note from that…the Nintendo rep came into my store today sadly took out Punch-Out ( :(…T.D. Sandman isn’t going to be able to punch my face in during my breaks no mo) and in it’s place put in Wii Sports Resort so there’s a chance it could be showing up in a GS, Best Buy, or what have you nearby. I got some pretty good time with it and spent a good 2 and a half hours with it and watching other people play it. I’ll post impressions in a later post.
Wii Sports Resort impressions:
Games I got to played were table tennis, golf, sword play, canoeing, archery, frisbee, jet ski, bowling, wake boarding, basketball, and cycling. I didn’t get to any of the air sports. I’ll do a small touch up on each.
Table Tennis works very well and it’s pretty fun to play. It’s definitely more responsive than than tennis on the original Wii sports since where your hand goes you see it happening on the screen instead of doing a gesture.
Golf is definitely way better…it had better be considering tiger woods 2010 probably does it better. Upon playing the game I’m discovering that I’m having a hard time keeping my hands steady when performing the swing and I’d always end up curving he ball. Once I got a handle on it though I could make pretty good shots and I could make it curve at my choosing
Sword Play is my favorite out of everything on there which I figured it would be. It works very well as you can see the 1:1 motion working and moving with you. I think I spent the most time on this game out of them all just getting more and more score to improve the challenge. I can somewhat see what was said about wildly waggling but I also say that you can’t really do that if the person you’re going against has solid defense. If you hit a block in this game then you’re left wide open for counter attack. This is just experience from playing against the AI so there’s no telling how it’s going to go against a human opponent…especially one that doesn’t have any rhyme or reason to their attacks. You can also attack immediately out of block and do pokes.
Canoeing is aight. It works to an extent but I did see that it had some problems recognizing left and right strokes. It usually occured when I was trying to go a bit too fast.
Archery is pretty cool and I hope they do some refinements too it when it comes down to putting something like this in zelda. I want to play around with this game a bit more and at least get one bullseye.
Frisbee is simple fun. Disc is waaay floaty though but that’s fine. Wii Motion plus works pretty well here as well. Very responsive and you basically have complete control over the frisbee…meaning if frisbee goes in the wrong direction then it’s definitely something in the way you’re throwing it and not the game.
Jet Ski was pretty fun as well. I expect a Wave Race game pronto after this Nintendo, NO EXCUSES! Controls could use a slight bit of refinement but that’s a bout it IMO.
Bowling is more precise so if you had fun with the original Wii sports bowling then this version of bowling is now the best version on the system.
Wake Boarding is pretty simple and yeah I don’t exactly see what’s being done in this game that couldn’t be done with the wii mote like normal besides maybe more precise landing. I can see people playing it for a bit and then probably not coming back to it.
Basketball was pretty fun and I did 3 point shoot out with some customers in the store. I can see what was said in terms of it needing work but even despite that I still had fun with it. I play it a bit more and play the 3 on 3 mode to see how that works.
and last but not least is Cycling…It’s a bit wonky and I’m not entirely sure what this game is doing either that couldn’t be done with the wii mote alone. I’d try to steer the bike and it wouldn’t really go the way i’d want too…especially if i’m trying to do it while I’m cycling the bike.
Overall though I think the game is pretty nice so far and want to see what comes of some of these games in the future. Score I’d give it currently would be about 8.3. If someone else gets a chance to play it post up your thoughts.
So, people do cheat in the Conduit, and it’s more widespread than what I was told? The fact that people are doing this and patches are almost never done for online gaming on Wii really saddens me. I was thinking of picking up the Conduit, but I’ll still to COD W@W. I’m not saying one is better than the other, but I just can’t spend the money on another FPS only to be let down by cheaters online. Plus, kill streak rewards in COD are always fun :badboy:
There’s still hope of them fixing it but it’s very small because of the way how Nintendo has the online set up. That being said though…I think if there’s any one who would be willing to try to find a way around the issue it’d be HVS.

Fuck that kid. Based on what’s in these videos I’m not too concerned with the shaky cam anymore. It’s there but it looks like they make sure that it’s steady when you’re definitely in danger of getting attacked.

My guess is that they’re working on 2 different things…one sounds more like an experiment and the actual wii ware title that they’re working on they’re afraid of announcing for now.

pretty dark but it’s 15 minutes of gameplay. Seeing this new footage I can see a few times when the camera really was a problem. I’m wondering if the scoring for this game is going to be a bit more lenient because of this or what. It doesn’t happen too often but I did spot the problem a few times.
