Peope pay third strike becuase it is easy to get into. Look at the three top characters ken chun and yun they are extrememly easy to learn with a week of practice and a week of playing decent players with one of these characters one could be considered decent. That and it is the latest version of street fighter.

3S is not balanced. The difference in effectiveness between the best character (yun) and the worst character (sean) is far too great. However, 3S is a game in which picking a better character doesn’t automatically score you a win IMO.
Anyway, to ask why people play 3S is to ask why people would play anything. Becuase it’s fun. If you don’t think so, you don’t think so. Asking other people what they see in it will not change your opinion.

2nd Impact is fucking awful, no polish, you lose 5 cool characters, lots of changed I think made the overall game more fun.

I think the parry system is one of the best ideas installed in a fighting game. The fighting game category has been gradually evolving coming up with more interesting ways to play.
This kind of strategic action can only be seen in TS and that’s why it’s popular.

The only reason why I don’t play Third Strike is hardly anyone wants to play it. Not just friends, but I’ve seen people ignore it the last time I was in an arcade.
Their main reasons?
“Dragon Uppercut isn’t invincible anymore! That fucking sucks.”
“I want Guile, not this faggot.”
“They got rid of the good people for these faggots. Fuck that.”
“Parrying is forward instead of back like Garou? That’s stupid.”
“It’s slow as fuck.”
And so on.
It seems that your local arcade visitors are still stuck in 1997.
The learning curve of 3s keeps it fresh. Its also very demanding to stay good in this game, if you break from it for a while, its easy to tell.
