Why not make Super the tournament Standard?

Ooooohhh boy, alright, lets play this game then.

Look, my point is. You have options, stop crying all over your keyboard about something simple, begging for nerfs/bans and toughen up.

Solution:

IF YOU DON’T WANT TO PLAY AE, THEN JUST STICK WITH SSF4. OTHERWISE, LEARN TO ADAPT TO THE CHANGES AND QUIT TRYING TO KICK UP A FUSS.

You said Yun’s damage wasn’t very good(it is), you said divekick is -4 on block(it isn’t), my point about overheads is that they are also generally SLOWER than ex dash punch. people commonly get hit by those overheads. A lot of the specials you listed are also focusable, or actually aren’t safe(you can hit rufus inbetween the spin of ex galactic tornado and when he sticks his palm out for instance)

you say his command throw has no range, but you can tick into it off of 2 shorts, and he can also kara into it for additional range. It’s also faster than Fei’s and has more range. it has more range than Yangs. It has more range than Makotos. It has more range than Seth’s. It has more range than Hakan’s when he isn’t oiled. That doesn’t leave a lot of command throws left.

Just because an option has a counter does not mean it is not a good option. Everything has a counter.

Anyways, I’m not mad about the character at all, I wasn’t trying to whine, I don’t want Yun out of the game, but when you say he doesn’t have tools he does have you are making an argument under false pretenses. And in the above post you backtracked on some stuff you said previously, and stated more things that are wrong, so whatever.

I’m still trying to figure out how reaction time correlates to 3 frame reversals though.

people also keep throwing around the term unnecessary nerf.

only character i can even think that would apply to, would be guile getting counter hit for booms.

the rest of the damage nerfs and such, make plenty of sense when you look at the matchups they had with the 10 characters who were new to console super. they arent nerfing the characters on the basis of who was top tier. it boiled down to what advantages they had in those different matchups.

admittedly, the twins seem like an after thought in terms of game balance when you look at them form a tools standpoint. but i think its still too early to tell how their tools effect all their matchups

fei also seems to stick out because he hasnt recieved a single damage nerf since vanilla. but on the flip side of that, i can only think of maybe 5 matches where he has a heavy advantage

this game is just as well balanced as super IMO. those top 3 characters are just distracting most people from seeing it

Maybe not. But aside from those two, the matchup charts have become much more even, that much is a fact.

All this talk about being broken. Nothing is broken. That’s not the problem though. It’s just not as fun.

One of the enjoyable things about street fighter is playing matchups. It makes for a dynamic game. I spent the last three years of my life in Japan. I was playing Vanilla one week after that shit came out. After a few months, it was 75% sagat, ryu, akuma, and 25% everyone else. When the switch to super came about, the entire cast had a great representation. There were some characters used more than others and less, but you would be surprised at the people who popped up every once and awhile.

I left Japan about a month ago or so. The arcades were filled with 75% Yun, yang, makoto, fei. 25% everyone else. A lot of folks here are saying how “The game has only been out for a week,” but it hasn’t. It’s been out for awhile folks.

When I play street fighter, I want to play against a variety of different characters and learn a variety of different matchups. When I watch other people play street fighter, I want to watch how insane matchups play out. I want to see the number 1 Dudley go against the number 1 Ibuki. It just adds variety.

Whatever happens happens, but Super > AE. Screw the new game mindset, I want to play good video games.

for a fun little side note to these posts you should have to leave the name of your console super main in addition to your opinion

stick with super? no thanks its boring in comparison, yes i hate the twins, invincible backdashes and reversals that you can fadc.

Let’s wait and see if everything pans out, no need to get froggy.

Balance issues didn’t stop people from playing cvs2, alpha2/3, 3s or Marvel for 10+ years…

wouldnt that have to do with vanilla and ae being on arcades while super was on consoles.Super would have had a larger player pool and there is nothing on the line while playing online.Super was also turning towards 75% akuma, cammy, fei and the charge 4 and 25% everyone else .

Par for the course when it comes to anyone putting AE on blast lol. Also, lol at him suggesting “i have every right to be mad considering both myc hars got nerfed” like im not able to look at the game objectively barring my main chars. lol.

This. I have thought of this for a long time. It would suck if they did.

Remember, though, when Vanilla was in arcades, everyone thought Viper was a bad character; it was only until the game came out on console that people began unlocking her true potential. We are less than a week from the console release of AE, and it is way too early to make judgments about how the game will grow, even with the fact that the game has been out in arcades for a bit.

Which is completely pointless if the vast majority of people will play those two characters. BBCT was a balanced game outside of Arakune and Nu, yet it failed largely due to balance. (note, I’m saying CT, not CS2, which is actually good, and the first Arc game I actually sorta like)

I give up. This thread is hopeless. You can’t even share facts without some out of the loop dipshit telling you you’re wrong. I’m looking at you Veserius.

That’s because you ARE wrong. You’re not sharing facts, you’re pulling info out of your ass.

Has anyone been watching the Revelations stream? Daigo and Hsien Chang have been shitting all over everyone with Yun. It’s quite possible that the final match is going to be a Yun mirror. If not, it’ll probably be Mago’s Fei/Sagat/Yang vs. Daigo’s Yun.

I don’t think any game company is intentionally trying to stop people from playing their games.

Guy - Super

Guy - AE

Fuck you guys for trying to make me play a shittier version of Guy.

This post makes me pick AE back up. Never really came back after MvC3. Its that crack. I played Abel in SSFIV and I know exactly what you mean about footsies being more viable. Cause in Super it felt like I shouldn’t play smart. Thank you sir/ma’am I’m excited to pick it back up.

So much bitching. Super was boring. AE is exciting. Rushdown > Boom spam all day. Yes they both take skill, but only one makes me fall asleep, literally. I watch streams and matches on youtube before I go to sleep and watching super matches makes me go into a coma, while I can actually keep my eyes open for AE.
