Why not for xbox?

Well, the people that have an XBox One and don’t plan to buy a PS4 will probably buy SFV for PC.

At the same time I don’t think that’s a guarantee. I looked at upgrading my PC for SF5 and I gathered its more expensive to do that than buy the PS4. Unless such a person already has a powerful enough PC. Basically, there are lots of variables that come into play:

-How many of the 360 sales will only play XBO?
-How many of the 360 sales will transfer to PS4?
-Will there be reduced interest among casuals (ex. Call of Duty sales dropping)?
-How many people who bought SF4 were casuals?

One thing to note is that sales decreased with each iteration of SF4. Basically only the hardcore fans were buying each version. I think that’s the number you want to look at when potentially judging who’s going to stick around for SF5 and each DLC update. Also, even the hardcore fans are never a guarantee to purchase. Street Fighter x Tekken sold 1.1m across the 360 and PS3, a huge plummet from SF4. You’d figure that fans of the franchise would buy it just because “Street Fighter” is in the name. They didn’t.

**There’s no real answer until the game comes out and we see data, I just think its more likely sales will decrease because numbers are down across the industry. Call Of Duty has steadily declined, Little Big Planet has declined, and so forth. **

The funniest thing in this thread is to see how Nintendo was so automatically out of the competition I bet none of you had even spared a single thought about it until now XD

You know that site is highly inaccurate, right? Let’s entertain the notion that the sales numbers of PC vanilla SF4 are correct, those numbers will only be for the retail version. A large percentage of the PC games are sold through digital distributors. They don’t release numbers.

Runaway! <3 Ahhhh’

Revelations! Best RE game since 4! O_O

Everyone in and out of the industry knows that exclusives currently sell less than multi-platform titles. I don’t think anyone is downplaying that fact, surely Sony and Capcom aren’t.

That said, you’re forgetting that fact that, historically, the FGC does tend to follow the games it plays onto the console that they came out on. This means that Sony has a very big change of dominating the competitive fighting game space for this generation. It makes sense after all, fighting games don’t really have a console of choice yet for this generation and winning it lets Sony have a bit of the E-sports pie.

You can see that they are taking this seriously and are taking measures steps to win. First we have the exclusives, aside from SFV, we also have Xrd. Then there’s the fact that they’ve made it easier for players to upgrade. By allowing PS4 sticks to have PS3 backwards compatibility, it means that anyone buying a new stick now (HRAP.V4 or TE2), these folks have a bigger chance upgrading to a PS4. Then there’s the fact that what will most likely be the definitive, most perfect port of Ultra Street Fighter IV - still the number one game at tournaments - is coming exclusively to PS4 on current-gen and will likely be the version of choice for major events like EVO and Capcom Cup. Combine that with the fact that Microsoft’s only effort so far has been Killer Instinct - a game that, sad to say, hasn’t really set the competitive scene on fire - then it’s pretty clear that Sony gonna win over the FGC this time around.

LOL at using a Tinyurl link to hide the fact that you linked VGChartz.

As Hawkingbird has stated, a good number of PC sales for SFIV and all its versions came from digital. Especially the latter ones (Ultra most of all) due to Steam.

The only thing that is entertaining about this thread is that it makes it so apparent as to whom is a xb1 owner and who is not.

:grinning:

I don’t have to because the nintendo fans are always bringing it up on facebook everytime Capcom posts something; they are as bad as the nintendo fans posting on the official soul calibur FB page calling them traitors and to bring back Link or no buy lol.

They are out of the street figther-esque fighting games for sure but still Smash gets a huge turnout so they aren’t really out of it.

This post is gold.

Oh no, I’m aware of that. Sony definitely has the best fighting game lineup at this moment, there is no contest. I also haven’t argued to the contrary. All I said was that it was possible that SF5 would lose sales due to the XBox fanbase that previously bought the game. Its just also a fact that some very profitable titles have been on the decline, hence I’m wondering if that might happen to SF since its going console exclusive. That’s really all I was trying to say.

As I said, Sony has the best fighting game lineup. I totally get that, I’m not trying to be a fanboy or anything. Merely debating. Again, I’ve never argued this point or initiated any “console x > console y” wars.

I used tinyurl because the URL for VG Charts was long, not to hide anything. Also, didn’t know that the site was frowned upon. Honest mistake. I was browsing NPD extensively but just could not find what I was looking for quickly. Same with Capcom’s financial section of their website.

Or, someone who has an XBO, WILL have a PS4, but nevertheless wants to debate the merits behind game industry sales.

I’m down to debate with whoever but please don’t mislabel me as some butt-hurt fanboy who’s mad about the game going exclusive, which is the sense I’m slowly getting. I own a PS2, I owned a PS3 up until it broke. I own a PSP. And I intend to buy a PS4. I’m no stranger to Sony products.

What in the actual **** is wrong with you?

@Norieaga‌
my post wasn’t aimed at you specifically. kind of suprised you went into defense-mode after reading it.

@ExposedD‌

I assumed it was since I was the only one actively commenting in the last while. Sorry man, my mistake! <3

VGCharts is cute but the problem is that it’s ultimately unreliable. VGCharts numbers are basically best guesses based on whatever information people are able to glean from various sources. NPDs are better, still flawed because they don’t take non-retail sales into account (such as online sales).

its timed if not then super sf v

Doesn’t matter to me. I win either way.

If you bought either “next gen” console, besides the Wii-U + PC combo, i’m afraid you lose

Then I can’t play my fav games then. I don’t like wi-u or pc. Consoles for life.

O_O

But…
But the Wii U is a console…

I’m sure you’re one of those ‘mature’ guys who thinks he’s matured past playing Mario. Personally, I could care less, because 90% of Nintendo’s games are fun. I’ll play that shit until the sun burns out.
Then again, it’s all personal preference, so if you think you won, fuck it.
