All characters got issues… Blanka is only cheap to those who don’t know how to exploit his weaknesses due to their own skill or the character they use. But obviously it’s much easier to blame everything other than your own skills and since most players aren’t exactly good players… you get a bunch of scrubs telling you he’s cheap.
anybody who knows better… will be impressed if you manage to win a proper tournament with Blanka… they’ll become instant stars.

Ok, perhaps I’m wrong, i have never play other characters than Blanka so, for me, he need a high execution for things like that : Stand jab xx elec is very hard, many blanka players don’t use this 2-in-1 cuz they don’t master it, but it’s very useful, Ultra on combo : not a feasible option for me generaly, and this character have links in one or two frames generaly, rarely more.
They are others chacacters more easy for someone who have a crap execution.
But guys, i say that only for ME.
I play makoto almost exclusively (and dudly/guy/cody) but blanka isn’t cheap in any sense of the word. Those guys are just mad cause they can’t fire ball you and srk you from full screen. Basically they’re the people who should be on fighting games period and only hurt the community cause the suck and won’t practice to get better. Players like that would be better off play COCK of duty or Halo instead of sullying the Fighting games.
Blanka is cheap because he has some the most rewarding intimidation in the game. His mixups are pretty wild and most of his fundamentals jump on grab whoring a lot, good footsies and some moves that people just dont know how to punish (Electric ball.) He has some good recovery on some of his moves as well, depending on the matchups.
Best time to get blanka down is before he can build his meter. Otherwise it can be an uphill battle.
There is no such thing as ‘whoring’ anything if you are playing to win. Do you not realise that? If someone wants to crouching light kick you to death just because you fail at low blocking; who’s fault is that? Btw blanka has about as much ‘Electric balls’ as he has chocolate salty balls.
More rewarding intimidation than Yun? You know that character who has both a command grab and an overhead that isn’t the worst one in the game and who can turn those tools into a super or ultra?
The primary mixups that Blanka players use put him in a situation where he has no control because he is at negative frames. The large bulk of his moves have bad recovery, and the ones that do have good recovery like st.jab don’t lead to good damage for the most part.
Blanka is mid tier there is no reason he should get ANY hate , LEARN THE MATCH UP!

It’s just, if people learned how to get around his setups, he would not be that hard at all. That’s all it really is.

What is more hilarious is when people call Fuerte or CT Carl Clover cheap.
Imagine a world without fireballs. Imagine if shotos threw themselves as big stupid projectiles, that could be hit out of the air on reaction; on block or hit? After the initial novel hilarity of seeing a flailing, spinning Ken hurtling towards you in an obvious act of self disregard wears off… Would you then find it ‘cheap’? Everything else so called ‘cheap’ can be likened to any number of textbook mixups replicated by the rest of the cast. Although their mixups are usually safe.
People need an excuse for their loss so they call you cheap, because, you know, it couldn’t possibly be them could it :rolleyes:
I only consider Blanka cheap when the game damn well lags. I used to have a problem with him as Bison, but I’ve realised to just play more patient (I love to rush down). Shit, when you’re playing Ryu properly can Blanka even get in? Even his ball can be countered by cr.jabjabjabjabjabjabjabjabjabjab.
I dont think he is any less expensive than the other characters in the game. Although I woulnd’t call him pricey either :looney:
The game in general is frustrating to play when laggy, which is why you play on good connections or offline.
Ryu vs. Blanka is very even because both characters struggle to break each other’s defense.
I think people label Blanka as cheap because at scrub level it’s easy to win with him. At scrub level people don’t block balls (or throw out jabs to beat it), they have no idea how to deal with electricity, they think hops are invincible and they can’t AA properly, or just block. They don’t respect his air attacks. They just don’t know.
Finding good connections with PSN players is just hard.
Depends, some characters such as Sakura cannot reach Blanka after a roll attack on block to top it off you could always use a short range roll and land right in front of them just to grab or something, which is really fn annoying when I mix in the slide attack at the right ranges to be safe on block. Other characters such as Ryu require a full super just to reach Blanka after a blocked roll. The stupid clones have slow projectiles and no fast paced attack. Also the second ultra can get away with doing a good amount of chip damage from far away to most or some characters, I often used as a finisher, covers the entire ground the second time long enough no one can jump over it.
Blanka using his roll attack is like Ryu using an uppercut, Blanka just gets away with being safer on block depending on the character, for the most part you’ll probably trade hits with a roll or if you try projectile Blanka uses ex roll or slide. Blanka versus Blanka on the other hand is a very ugly match up. It’s just there, but I wouldn’t say it’s gimmicky such as a cross over bull shit tactic as what El Freute same animation just guessing, Ibuki throwing a projectile you have to block and can land as Ibuki is right above you on wake up guessing that shit a full combo if it lands, and sometimes Gen gets away with a cross over dive kick on wake up, possibly other characters. It’s annoys me when used versus me but Blanka is something I could let slide compared to others.
