Blanka isnāt cheap, heās cheesy. Back in Vanilla, when I was a scrub, I hated the blanka match up so much because I couldnāt deal with the cheese.
I played Rog btw. Then one day I realized that jab stops all the cheese and now I eat blankaās for breakfast.

i took the test, i keep holding down the spacebar and it mashes out 4 fails after one godly reaction time. but my average is 21/22 :-(. i keep failing because of her weird hair sweep where it starts like her kick overhead. my reaction have always been crap, thats why i picked blanka. easy anti air.

I HATE Blankaā¦but Iāll never call him cheap. He just has a great set of tools.

Heās cheap because of the way heās been designed to be used like you said he doesnāt really use normals purelyspecials and Iām sure every cunt on this page complains when a ken is rubbing shoryukensā¦ The truth is he sucks because you have to play by his game you have to counter otherwise you take to much damage and heās really really difficult to frame trapā¦ Get him in the corner then weāre talking otherwise you just have to make good reads and punish him he is cheaper than allot of the castā¦

as someone who mained blanka at a point, iāll explain why people get annoyed. ofcourse everyone here is going to have a biased reply like "learn the match-up and ull be fineā or ādont suck at this and youāll be fine.ā
as someone with a B+ (10,000+ rank with balrog, sagat, rose, ryu, ken, dhalsim) and a B in plenty other characters, i find blanka matchups by far the most annoying, hence why i google searched to learn tactics.
i pretty much start ALL matches against blanka dy doing a crouching lightpunch piano or whatever its called to avoid the Light Roll into grab nonsenseā¦
His jump inās are difficult to punish
no point throwing fireballs if he has more than 1 an ex-bar
his move where u hold back and then forward+kick has a pretty fucked up cross-up mechanic. It appears that it will land infront but it crosses up.
his slide has a lot of range.
overall, contrary to what people say, countering his roll isnt simple if you dont have atleast a bar
his forward+KKK cross up and then crouching Heavy Kick knockdown is difficult to predict ā¦ so a player can do that twice ā¦ and then just blanka roll u on the next wakeup
the blanka roll can cross-up upon wake and its extremely difficult to predict a normal hit or cross up
in addition to al these special crossup options, his jumping MK crosses up to, and it combos into until normals like a crouching HK
this is why i find it annoying. other characters who are very skilled, i can learn them out (like akuma jump back hadouken spammers, or zangief jump over dive + lariat spammers ā¦ well i only know how to fight the zangief spammers with shoto characters)
im trying to find ways to EFFECTIVELY beat blanka players, hence why im bumping this thread.

As a blanka main ā¦ I wouldnāt call myself an anti blanka master but at least I know what to look for and can hold my ground even if i play as t hawk in this match.
Hereās dome tips.
- know that punishing lp,mp,hp and ex ball is different recognize which ball is coming at you and if your character can punish whic h ball with what type of moves.
Be able to distinguish which ball they are using before you block it. In general hp and ex ball moves and rolls significantly faster than lp and mp ball.

know the range of the ball lp ball stops at the range start of round, mp ball stops exactly fight in front of opponent if standing at max full range. Hp and ex goes further and requires more than full screen

how fast are your reactions? I played players who can punish most ball before it reach them with do. Others can counter with cr.mp. and for myself I got slow reactions so I rely on mashing cr.lp but my anti blanka knowledge is strong enough do itās still ok

horizontal ball is the only ball that breaks armor WITJOUT reversal. So blanka main weakness is FA. His double hit move requires him to stand close range. Even his annoying jump hk is weak against FA because of how far it reaches down, and since heās a charge character he canāt ex up all you when he lands.

if you play a fireball character, itās much harder to slide under a fast fireball mid range compared to a slow one despite most of the time you feel slow one recovers fasterā¦itās actually easier for blanka to punish

know when blanka had charge, if he doesnāt heās weak against FA, this point is a repeated tip because itās that important.
Hope this helps. Honestly though this is just advice on how to brat a General blanka players only which covers majority of them imo., if they ate specialist youāll need to learn specifics yourself
I know that for me, Blanka pisses me off to no end. The issue is not that I think he is too good or anything, but rather because every time I get hit by one of his gimmicks I feel like a total scrub. No other character makes me feel as bad about my sf4 ability. That and Capcom decided that costume 3 was a good decisionā¦
