The Akuma mirror suffers from Marvel 3 syndrome where it is high damage, fast paced, and full of BS that can get you killed. It’s a match up that is so easy to screw up in and a single screw up will cost you the round.
Ask any Akuma player who has been playing this for a while and they will tell you it has a very high random factor. I’ve beaten Tokido in a FT3, but I don’t even consider myself near his skill level because he can play the other 38 match ups far better than I can.
Eh they will most likely be like the last wave of Akuma players who will find out the character is actually hard to win unless you put the time in and drop him in favor of easier characters to play. I’ve seen this cycle since Vanilla.
Seriously. I don’t even really think of it as gloating so much as getting caught up in the moment and enjoying the hype simply because there was so much history leading up to it. It would have been weird if the cyborg known as Infiltration didn’t show at least a little bit of humanity.
That said, I’m still a little bit bummed that Poongko didn’t make it farther into Top 8, because that dude knows how to gloat. And it is great.
How can you NOT be thrilled that you just defeated Daigo The Beast Umehara on EVO top 8? I’m pretty sure anybody would’ve been thrilled. Well, save for the Chinese…
“I never think Daigo would be a big deal, despite how Daigo’s fans think. I mean it, what Daigo does is just crouching short short short short and crouching forward with fire ball. The reason Daigo could win is because of his patience. As long as keeping you out of the range of crouching forward, Daigo is afraid of nothing. Daigo believes that once he either avoids or blocks all the attack from you, your lose is just about time. Of course, he made it, that’s why he kicks most people’s ass. But Mago has the same faith as Daigo, and Daigo must lose since Fei Long’s move has further hit box than any of Ryu’s. Mago could be as patient as to block 10 fire balls, waiting the chance to fight back with anti air once Ryu jumped; or absorbed the fire ball with Focus Attack and dash forwars to punish. Therefore Daigo didn’t stand a chance, though I appreciate his mighty mind which made him survive for kinda long time, miacle. If the rule was best of 3, Daigo might win the game.”
Funny thing is nearly 100% of the FGC are pro-combat pragmatism. Turns out we’ve all have been getting rocked by some Jap who does believe in “honorable combat” for years at EVO.
And when Infiltration showed up at EVO, he was pretty much going
"Hello, I’m here to fuck shit up."
Now eventually, I want Infiltration to use Dan for lulz just like J. Wong does sometimes.
