she is top tier…in our hearts.
The only Ibuki I give credit to right here.
The ONLY one.
That and not enough super ninja reset tricks :<
Out poking your opponent can only take you so far. I don’t get to see a lot of Ibuki, but from what I can tell, she can’t hit confirm a low poke into super (I could be wrong). So in that respect, her options are limited, much like Elena and Alex have no low poke into super. Not being able to cancel a low poke into super would be okay for Ibuki since had good ex moves, but they’re not like EX machine gun blow great. All and all she just can’t keep up with the damage output of higher tier characters.
^^
I’m just going to assume you’ve never played Ibuki.
No need to assume, he said in his second sentence “I don’t get to see a lot of Ibuki”.
If Ibuki’s damage was upped by 50% or something around there… I think that would make Ibuki way too good. Or even if she did more stun that would make her pretty unbalanced and probably beat out ken in the tiers. Even if she can’t deal out a lot of damage quickly… she has a lot more opportunity to deal the damage she can
fuck you and your elitist attitude. You not even a great Ibuki. Seriously, you not.
There was nothing elitist about what he said. If anything iwst was the one being “elitist”. Xeno was simply pointing out that he already answered iwst’s question.
To be honest…none of us in here are “great” Ibukis. If we were regularly placing 1st in tourneys then maybe one of us could claim that but there is pretty much no Ibuki player in the US who consistantly places top 3 in every tourney (including big regionals/Evo). Kechu from Australia is probably the best non Japanese Ibuki player in the world (qualified for SBO with the ninja). There are no real dominating Ibuki players in the US right now. Not even myself.
The other issue though is that none of us need to be great Ibuki players to play and give out knowledge about her. We’re all just working to become better Ibuki players ourselves and understand that as Ibuki players we generally are going to understand Ibuki more than other people. Xenozip simply shares the info he knows with Ibuki and generally understands more about the way the game works than most of us here. He may not be the best Ibuki player even in this forum but that doesn’t make what he says not worth listening to. I ask him questions about the game all the time and I place better in tourneys than he does.
Any ways this topic is nothing more than flame bait
now. This thread needs to close. :shake:
I’m not rying to make enemies, but glad to make you one if you act like it. The attitude you and Xenozip is like the end all of Ibuki. I’m new to Ibuki, but not new to the game. When, I said Ibuki is top tier I have every logical reason to say so. Top Tiers are not set in stone. If that was the case, the game would be broken like MvC2. SF3 is a very balance game; therefore the tier list can be debatable. Ibuki is in the Top 5 IMO. I’m not here to flamebait. Just respect other people opinions. No matter how much you disagree with it.
you have no idea what you are talking about.
the game is old, real old. pretty much everything major has been found out as far as competitive play goes, and the top tier is set in stone, and there’s no way ibuki is top 5, simply because there are about 8 characters who are better than her (not only on paper, but as a general consensus among tourney players, and results) you have no idea what you are talking about, and if you continue to cause trouble on the boards, you will be banned.
Does causing trouble mean difference of opinions?
causing trouble is telling random people you dont know fuck you, and personal attacks that have nothing to do with a “difference of opinion”.
I respect your opinion but just like how you dont agree with my opinion I dont necessarily agree with yours. Definitely dont have anything against you. Just letting you know where I stand on the situation. I’m sorry if I come off as the “end all of Ibuki players” because I definitely wasn’t trying to at all. I know I’m clearly not the best Ibuki player in the world and not trying to shove that down anyone’s throat.
There’s nothing wrong with a difference in opinion. Some people just aren’t going to take your opinion the way you want and that’s how things are in life. Everyone is always subject to criticism with their opinions. Some criticism comes off more harsh than others but the idea is to be able to contain yourself when people become harsh. That’s the only way you’ll get along with others on this forum.
Any ways like said before…this topic needs to be closed. Everyone’s stated their opinion and Ibuki is still in the same place in the tier lists despite this discussion unfortunately.
It’s all good. If I get banned, then it was meant to be.
What the hell are you talking about?
That comment wasn’t directed at you anyway, and I don’t think 1hitparry or iwst99 need you to stick up for them, so it’s none of your business (they can speak for themselves). I haven’t been elitist towards anyone in this forum, you totally misinterpreted what I said.
I am just going to post evidence as why I see her as not being top tier.
Please watch the videos and comment. Given these are all examples of top players, and no doubt could have gone in favor of either player.
I’m not saying that Ibuki is top-tier, but using these videos as evidence is like saying Justin Wong sucks at 3S and just showing matches that he lost in, disregarding any great videos of him winning close matches and tournaments. I have seen some great play from Ibuki players from all over the world on videos and in person, and she can be deadly in the right player’s hands and the right situations. I see the potential of Ibuki wreaking lots of havoc, but at the same time, some characters just have her number and make it extremely difficult for her to win against them.
If it was really set in stone that she dies to top-tier, or even mid-tier… then you might as well say, “Why even bother playing Ibuki?”. You might as well leave the cabinet and not even play. But, like Chris Berman says on ESPN… “**That’s **why you play the game,”. Nothing is probable, everything is possible. Give it your all and maybe good things will happen. If Ibuki is your best shot, then play her. That’s why I play her and no one else… she gives me the best chance to win.
Bottomline is: Who really cares THAT much about Ibuki being top-tier? If you feel like she is, then prove it to people by winning tournaments. If you can’t, play Ibuki for fun and don’t expect miracles. If you can’t stand the fact that she isn’t top-tier, don’t play her and play Yun/Ken/Chun/Mak instead.
I admire a good Ibuki player just like anyone else here in this small sect of the SRK forums, and I will root for anyone who plays her in tournaments. But I don’t care about where she ranks. She was one of the best in 2I (and I got accused of being a top-tier whore when using her), but that didn’t stop me from playing her… and I played her in SF3:NG. I play her because she fits my style of fighting and I’m sure other people on this part of the forum feel the same way. I could care less if she was dead last in rank… I’ll still play her.
Yeah, close the thread. It’s been hijacked to no return.
Why don’t you girls ever settle your differences without having to call Daddy?
The answer (to the original question and the slurry that followed, not the one I just posed) is: Tiers are a guideline for character’s general strength, not the innate potential of the character in a particular person’s hands. Some people are great with some characters because that character happens to really fit the way they like to play. The character may have a general tendency toward problems in some areas, but the playstyle can make up for that.
Instead of worrying about your character’s tier, worry about YOURS. The character is a tool, not an inherent lifestyle. If you aren’t doing well with your choice of character, try figuring out what you like about that one and see if you can do it with a different one. Or just, god forbid, level up your damn self and take it to the limit.
Like Kuni says, “The weakness is not within the character, the weakness is within yourself. Practice it hard and you can beat anybody”.
