Well, I think what we can take away from the first 40 posts in this thread is that our community displays a wide variety of preferences when it comes to stream commentators and commentary. Pretty neat! 
Wow, I wish more English commentators can commentate like that. And wow, parries.
If it wasnāt for Ski, I wouldnāt watch MvC3 streams at all.

Yipes is good, except when he goes āooh, oohā¦ ooh ooh ooh! ā¦ ooh ooh!ā to the hits of a combo, lol. I guess thatās okay sometimes, but not all the time.

James Chen feels like heās explaining in depth a situation that happened 10 seconds in the past most of the time. And the information is half right, half wrong, and the third half a total guess as to the intentions of the player. And sometimes he says stuff like āI donāt know if [top player] knows about [very basic technique with his main character], maybe he should use it??ā Overall I donāt mind him commentating when UD keeps him in check though.
Ultradavid is fine most of the time.
Seth Killian is probably the best.
That said, I did some commentary for Canada Cup 2010 on stream, so I can appreciate how hard the job is. Theyāre kind of like referees in sports, people only notice them when they mess up or stand out in a bad way, and people love to hate on them even when theyāre doing perfectly fine. Itās a hard, mostly thankless job I think.

And for the record Ski is godlike too.
Think about how back in the day when he would keep up with every single detail thats going on at the exact moment it was happening in a MVC2 match. Speaking quickly and breaking down mishaps and situations in the matchās. Which is very hard to do at the pace of certain matchups in mvc2.
Cant find a video of him commentaing a MVC2 match. Dont feel like lookingā¦ just got home from workā¦tired lol
But yeaā¦ everyone has a acquired taste for commentators. Also, one commentator i think who needs to get credit is Liston from NY. Heās not super hype but heās a long time OG & he has knowledge. The way he breaks down the Sanford Vs Dieminion matchās are perfect.
Honestly, if you watch the Gamerbee vs JWong evo 2010 match itās just very irritating. Heās just screamingā¦itās the same with Gootecks commentating on 801 Strider vs Ricky Ortiz.
Hype is great, this pretend hype stuff gets to me.
Other than that Ski is a really good commentator, maybe he doesnāt know lots about the newest games but the man sure knows the fundementals, he also explains what he sees in a really concise manner and he seeās things that other people wouldnāt.
I might be risking a lot by saying this.
But, oh my god, Tasty Steve has the most annoying voice I have ever heard in my life. Whenever he comes on I have to immediately stop watching before I punt a kitten in agony. Iām not saying Steveās a bad person or anything, Iām sure heās a good guy, but I donāt want to see him within 10 feet of a mic ever again.

Yipes is off and on as a commentator. Sometimes I like him and sometimes the stuff he says is absolutely moronic.
Seth Killian will sometimes go on rants about one particular moment in a match for like 5 minutes. To the point where when he is done that moment is completely unimportant but other than he is great.
UltraDavid is awesome. Justin Wong is pretty awesome especially at Marvel.
Skisonic tends to annoy me. He gets really bad when he speeds up and starts talking high pitched.
Juicebox needs to commentate more he was fucking godlike at Final Round. I was laughing so hard and he knew what he was talking about.
Skiās a great guy and his voice isnāt as annoying as everyone thinks, it just sounds like he has a sore throat all the time.
Also, Nuki is S+++++++++++ tier. Everyone else can be in whatever tier they want below him, but Nuki is at the top. Always and forever.
Be happy of what we haveā¦ skiā¦ jamesā¦ ultradavidā¦ yipesā¦chrisā¦subzeroā¦etcā¦ they are representatives of USā¦ they ARE us.
I say that cause it will come to a point where this popularity will carry us into a different level and slowly but surely you will LOSE those familiar faces to selective representation of the G4s, MLGās since they are creeping into this territory (just an opinion but i know how these things happenā¦again business). Those same people complainingā¦ will be the same ones complaining when you start having unknowns on the mic.
Its a art to commentate and WE as a community have people who took the step to jump on the mic an try to help not only entertain but inform. All of them have a good day an bad dayā¦ so what. Im more focused on the match. same with a basketball gameā¦ Donāt believe the hype an dont get into some āTIERā shyt cause thats a personal preference which never ends well. dont tell someone to STFUā¦ if you donāt like WHAT THEY ARE DOING you can EASILY contact ALL OF THEMā¦even the stream hostā¦ an suggest an OPINION on to make it better. AN IF (cause most ācomplainersā dont even go) you attend the tourniesā¦you do know you can speak with all of them personally.
my suggestion is to team certain people upā¦ some just flow so well together.

Ski is a great commentator. One of the best. He works very hard for the community.
So what Iām getting from this thread is that we need to fly in Nuki to commentate [S]Evo[/S] everything.
