I disagree with a lot of their shit too, but GG isn’t a battle of the sexes or a duel between opposing ideologies. If Kotaku and Polygon retain their views, that’s fine. All GG should want is objectivity, professionalism, and an end to the strong-arming of people in the industry who don’t push the narrative, which is the only arguable point of intersection between GG and anti-SJW protest. It doesn’t matter if it’s SJWs or right-wing fundamentalists pulling these stunts, bullshit is shit regardless of the asshole it spews from.
I think it is, both sides have created (whether deliberate or not) shaky narratives to make sense of a complex set of situations, populated by a grand stage of characters, often utilizing the gold standards of objective reality, Youtube and Twitter

This is what actually has happened: Publishers and “Press” are lying, manipulative douchebags, devs are caught in the middle, and the consumer is treated as disposable.
“Indie” devs are the worst of the worst, combining the worst qualities of “press” and pubs into some sort of Fusion Dance’d hybrid of shittiness, and use a combination of bullying and PR to intimidate and manipulate their way to the top.
Some shit happened, people wised up and started asking the questions I’ve been asking since the early 2000s, and then, on cue, “Gamers are Dead” articles popped up all over from the usual scumbag “press” blogs…
This infuriates people even more, and #GamerGate becomes the hashtag that strikes fear into corrupt pocketbooks and SJWs everywhere.
There’s nothing shaky about that, unless you have a lot of advertiser money at stake, or are someone who takes words on the internet too seriously.

The only bad guys in this are those who continue to promote and defend corrupt behaviour.
Instead of addressing the issues and concerns of their audience and consumers head on, the industry decided to suppress information, prevent discussion and slander those who question them. Time and time again it’s always happened (DmC, Mass Effect 3 prior and the GG narrative now). It was only a matter of time before things would reach a tipping point, where consumers say enough is enough, we ain’t taking this bullshit anymore. These are the very same people who are suppose to have the best interest of their audience in mind, but they don’t.
We can argue what the intention behind the ‘Gamers are dead’ articles were, but the message received was unanimous and consumers did not receive it well at all (again, the disconnect with their audience). They all came out during the same time and shortly after, it was revealed that the press were all conspiring and colluding with each other behind the scenes (gee, no wonder they all came out during the same time, right?).
Fuck you Po, I am not being a smart ass. The indi dev community is not just the community in the United States and even if it was it still wouldn’t apply. The indi community is world wide, Zun of Touhou fame is an indi dev and he doesn’t do the shit you blanket accused him of doing. Notch did not do this, the developer of IWBTG/Brave Earth doesn’t do this shit, the developer of Iconoclasts does not do this, so on and so fourth. You used blanket wording, I simply pointed out that using blanket statements about groups of people is a bad idea since it’s the fucking thing we are fighting against since it was done to us.

Well we been goin back and fourth a lot lately so I thought you where responding to me, I apologize. With that said I think it’s important for us to not be making sweeping generalizations because that’s one of the things that set this whole shebang off, and one of the main points of contention. We can’t complain “They say all gamers are white, fat, neck beard rapists” and then turn around and say “All indi developers are scumbags.”
That may have not been your intention but that’s how it came off, to me at least, and to SmoothJazz a bit to it seems.
I think it’s important to be clear, and to avoid generalizations in this situation.
