So basically people who say it’s bad give reasons why, and the people who say it’s good ignore those posts and just all the haters “elitists” and other condescending insults, yet never go beyond vague reasoning on why the game is good.
Do you mean bad as in competative bad or just as a fighter cus I can garuntee that the average joe who buys doa4 ain’t guna be thinking of frames or izuna drop setups ?
Altergenesis: my point exactly its fun thats all that matters the reason why fighter are bottom of developers mind (not this year lol) is because we are to busy fighting within are own ranks to help the genre as a whole fps is selling cus poeple say this is fun rather then " uhhhh you started plying unrea when 2005 came outyour a fake" gtfo with that shit play games for pleasure not for mechanics.
Queen of combat: I agree having watched the mathes and player like swoozie who I see use the same drad wong shit each round you do realise that as far as options and paths for the players to take doa is rather limted.
It’s a little entertaining as a video game, but shitty as a fighting game.
99% of fighting games WILL form a competitive scene where pretty much every player of the game will play and practice to compete at the constantly increasing levels of play, and then you have the minority, the creepy ass Halo kids that’ll pop in Street Fighter 2 just to ‘lol’ at their drunk buddy going “SHORYOUKEN AHAHALOL!” every 10 seconds and who always pick REEYOO because he’s dah shitz.
I don’t get how anyone playing a game designed to be competitive can try to loophole around shitty gameplay by saying “it’s good for casual, ‘fun’ play”.
DOA is “trash” (just to use OPs words) on competitive fighting game level. When the OP says everyone, it’s basically this. DOA4 is not the greatest competitive fighting game despite whatever CGS or MLG do. Yes, DOA4 is all good casual, button mashing fun. It can be enjoyed. It has great graphics, a superb online lobby system, tons of modes and costumes to unlock. The stuff the makes a great “video game” not necessarily a great “fighter”.
From the SRK’s standpoint, DOA4, it’s nothing more than a broken fighter.
DOA4 has issues…but I think there’s certain things worth discussing.
About the stun thing…personally I think problem with stuns is that it’s TOO EASY to get out of stun. Anyone who seriously plays DOA knows that you don’t even need to reverse to get out of stuns. This was one of the things I believe Perfect Legend brought up in his issues with the game.
The problem is that everytime you get stunned…it’s like getting a dizzy in SF2 and you’re playing as Dhalsim. Mashing on the stick and buttons allows you to reduce the stun or basically slip out of any stun and go back into a blocking position and makes stunning games really random. This really becomes an issue with crumple stuns where the opponent can literally mash themselves back onto their feet before the opponent can do anything.
The hi counter throw damage thing…I mean it’s basically in there to make the game more high damage and offensive. Which is what Itagaki was looking for in the game. High damage everything and the counter system allowing for sudden shifts in momentum. Probably one of the reasons why everyone throws so much in the first is because of how easy it is to mash out of a stun that someone isn’t instantly following up on. Especially during CGS matches you’ll see people either launching or setting up for a throw usually right after a stun because otherwise the opponent will mash escape or low counter option select out.
As far as the CGS girls…I personally had the hots for Phoenix. LOL. She was always mad at something whenever she fought and I was hoping Dallas would make it to the world championships so that I could see her get mad at Mexicans and Chinese. The girl (I think her name’s Belle) that plays on LA Complexity is cute. She gets destroyed everytime but…she looks like the nicest fighting game girl ever. She takes her losses very well.
It’s hard to watch Vanessa fight. She like nearly breaks down and cries everytime she loses a round.
It’s trash, and it’s been explained many times so I don’t think we’ll bother with that one again.
Oh, and the only reason DOA4 is ‘balanced’, is because it’s so damn bare bones basic that tiers hardly matter.
It’s like you buy a chicken wing, but somebody done gone and ate all the chicken leaving you with nothing but the bone…yeah that’s right, DOA4 is the fighting game equivalent of left over chicken bone.
not only that, the game lacks of a true system, everyone can play the game, let your little brother play it like an hour and he will be a master by then, the game is fun, like DBZ BT 3 is fun, but its not a good fighter
that’s like saying spam and a fat prime ribeye steak are both good because they’re both meat. Why would you ever consider spam over a beautiful steak? why would you ever choose one over the other?
ps: If you’re from Hawaii, yes I know spam is big there.
