tifa is the only real thing i like about the game and obviously one of the best characters in the game as well as her having her FF7 cowgirl costume also. I like the game for what is was and for the time it was fun i still have it on ps1 somewhere.

I’d love to get this engine and fool around with it. a game like this deserves a sequel IMO, the combat system was so interesting

My local movie theater had it, did not have Sephiroth for whatever reason. Played that crap more than I want to admit.
Also, Forsaken Dungeon rocked. More games need to be pointless as hell with very little incentive to proceed other than to say you did. Like Gauntlet.
Until you run out of meter. Sure he’s the only one who can kinda recharge it (pretty sure), but have fun trying as you’ll get stuffed every time.
As much as I dig Kakuto Chojin, no.
PS1 version only. Not missing much because as he’s a palette-swapped Cloud with a few altered moves. Sephiroth is an overrated momma’s boy anyway. Kefka. THAT is a real villain who deserves respect.
Anyway, I had lots of fun with Ehrgeiz back in the day. It wasn’t Tobal 2, but I accepted it for what it was: An experiment of making a standard 3D fighter within Power Stone-like mechanics. I wouldn’t say the controls were a problem, but more that you had to sorta get used to something drastically different from most games of it’s kind. Outside of that, had a great, varied cast even though the extra FFVII added for the PS1 version were just clones (Seph = Cloud, Yuffie = Sasuke, Vincent = Godhand), but the quest mode characters made up for that. System had a lot to it being based off Tobal already (grapple system especially), but again, due to how it controlled and the way it played, it’s hard to take advantage of what the system has to offer. Be nice to see something like it tried again and perfected. It still remains one of the reasons I miss Dream Factory.

Eff that! Those two should never be mentioned in the same sentence ever.

The game was ok. It had several mini games that were ok. namely the reversi and dungeon.
Everyone having a 360 was cool.
The original is in the JP PSN Store. Wish it was better than that.
I still like this game, wish I still had a PS3 to play it on.

Ergheiz sucks because it killed any chances of Tobal 3 being made as a proper arcade game.

I only played it for the dungeon exploration mini game, outside of that it was a crap fighter. The CPU did moves that you didn’t know could be done, it was sluggish and unresponsive AND there was no topless Tifa mode, or for any of the female cast for that matter.

Wasn’t Asuka Kazama based on Yoko’s design?
Possibly. Really, most of the cast were similar to Tekken and VF characters (fighting style and move animations) with some Tobal moves sprinkled about for obvious reasons. Doza is straight up Doctor V from Tobal 2. Sasuke and the VII/quest mode characters were unique though.
I would bash on it harder if it wasn’t for The Bouncer being even worse. Similar to Ehrgeiz, but slower, more shallow, with a bad story that no one cared about, and it’s probably the only Dream Factory fighter I know of that doesn’t have a quest mode (but you can spend that time leveling up the three characters with stats and new moves…how fun).
Dream Factory only got it right with the Tobal games. It’s nice that Ehrgeiz has a similar grappling system, but it’s hard to take everything else seriously.
