Hey…if you are a millionaire, or famous, or in a position of great power (senator, CEO, etc.) sure you can score despite being old and unattractive. Wealth (providing for young), Fame/power (leadership, alpha dominance) all fit in perfectly with what many female mammal species (including humans) look for in males. However most people aren’t like that guy in your pic (unless that is you?)…so in that case social skills and looks do matter a whole lot.

Um…pee wee football is like a million times more popular than field hockey. Women are physically weaker/smaller/slower on average so a girl dominating football and the boys even at that age level is remarkable and thus gets a lot of attention. A guy going into a female sport (and an unpopular one at that) is going to get rightly criticized as someone to weak to compete with his own gender.
