She is versatile and has a beautiful arrangement of normals to do the job. Her execution isn’t overly complex although her one main link is tighter than i’d like, but apart from that, she is essentially a character design perfect for me.
And she doesn’t have to dress up in a leotard or act like a h0e to look awesome.
The best is showing up at an arcade and getting skeptical looks and even getting scoffed at from afar by seeing Rose on the character selection screen choosing an ultra, and then trolling with slide > cr.MP xx spiral > meaty slide > cl.MK > BT > EX sparks on wakeup then repeat. The second match consists of taunting until revenge meter flashes, then risking for the slide > BT > U2 eventually landing EX ST after some running away.
What’s better is blowing smoke in the face of a particularly loud-mouthed know-it-all who swore Rose was ass tier.

I love Rose.
Those are my favorite : going from heavily underestimated to « how the hell can we beat her ? » =D
The fact is Rose is much less vulnerable than she appears, and taking advantage from that is part of victory. There aren’t so many players playing Rose seriously, so her traps are unknown to most of the opponents. ^^
It’s a great thing, it’s a veil of anonymity in a sense. Playing ranked online is the best cause I get flooded with hatemail cause meaty slide into back throw is an oblivious concept to them. At the same arcade mentioned above, I took quite a fancy to a Ken player with his girlfriend present. They both scoffed at the fact threw him at least 4 times in a row off cl. MK on wakeup or cr.lk tick throw on wakeup. I was being obnoxious somewhat but he took a keen liking to his only strategy consisting of j.HK > cr.HK sweep…over and over. After he got up, I said “There’s teching by the by”, and dirty looks followed.
She’s great because you can tell who bothered to learn the match-up and who’s cowering in fear after a few successful slides, haha.
jab jab footsies… jab jab… footsie… grab…grab…slide…slide…jab jab all day! XD
When I started with SF4, I decided to go through the arcade mode with all the characters to see if there were any others I liked. Before this game, Chun Li was my main. I stuck to Chun for a while but then started using Rose cause I liked the way she was played. Since then she’s been my favourite by far! And she’s got style too.
I love the fact that she doesn’t excel in any particular area but that’s what makes her unique in her own way. That, along with her absorption moves, but overall those things make her cool. Plus, I’m prone to using lady-like, elegant characters in fighting games.

She’s classy.
And we get to see the opposing character’s O face when we use U1

haha, it’s been my ringtone since the moment i got a phone able to read mp3s
Was my favorite character to come out of the Alpha series, love the fact that she can do a little of everything.
Now I just have to get less free with her.
I have fun playing her, but for the life of me can’t make the transition from pad to stick, have both brawlstick and madcatz fightpad, and I play way better with the fightpad, but the rubber from the pad is wearing down, bought a pdp versus pad but the same issue, can’t play at all with it.
Is there any advice that you guys can give me? transition from fightpad to pdp versus pad or to stick lol
Apart from ‘stick to what you like’, not really. But don’t feel that you have to move to stick if you prefer playing on pad.
Maybe you should get another fightpad if you like them a lot? Even better, get two so you have a spare. Use whatever is most effective for you, whether it’s a pad, a Hitbox, or a stick.
Or just get a Saturn pad and a converter…
Apologies for bumping up an old thread but I recently picked up SSF4 AE, and Rose was the character that stood out the most from the cast, loving her moves and aesthetics. Although I’m still having a difficult time, Rose is quite easy to understand gameplay wise for me.
I like Rose because she was the first Street Fighter character I picked way back in Street Fighter Alpha 3. I also like all the other characters from that specific game but Rose was the one I’ve remained loyal with since.
When i win i actually feel like i earned it. Fundamentals are key to every fighting game/character but Rose’s design is based nearly entirely around footsies which to me is the most enjoyable thing in SF4 as a whole.
Because she’s an overall wellbalanced character, with good tools, that comes with a price (fx so so wakeup). Personally I find her on the better side of the cast, due to her backdash, pressure, and defense (and <3 U2). An overall fun character to play, if you like to play with som good fundamentals.
I finally submitted to using Rose despite fighting it for so long. I love the long pokes she has, how she is primarily a footsie character who has good ones close up to. She can easily deal with fireballs, she can zone with long range normals and her spark, soul satellite rocks. Most important of all she just fits me perfectly. As hard as I tried to make other characters fit (Oni, Ibuki) it was always like wearing a suit too large or too small, it just wasn’t right just wasn’t comfortable. Rose is a tailor made perfectly fitting suit.

I started playing her because of her cl. mk kara throw but stayed because she has decent normals that can easily shut down a sloppy offense combined with her mobility(slide, backdash) makes her very agile and lets you free-flow somewhat. Her standing lk is classy too.
She let’s you spark with finesse while winning or loosing.
Rose is so…elegant and graceful. I’ve loved the character since Alpha 1, but didn’t play her as much back then. I love her fighting style, voice, and design. I might get my ass kicked playing with her, but I don’t care because I have a lot of fun using her.
