Talking with some of the Japanese players at Manila Cup this past weekend, one thing that struck me was their emphasis on patience. Whenever they’d fight against or watch certain players who they were impressed with, they’d say that that player had “the patience of the Japanese”, Makes me wonder if they think that western, and indeed non-Japanese players are more impatient, less willing to wait for the right moments to strike and impose their game in favor of trying to impose their gameplan from the start.
