nike took a hit (IMHO) around that time and decided to capitalize off of the same types of colors bape did. this is why you had all those patent leather uptowns in weird colors. add to that that everyone was going crazy over sb’s, which also came out in crazy colors and materials.
shit used to be somewhat exclusive. then nike whored the obscure shit out and put it in ever footlocker and finish line. now weird color ways are the standard and the extra weird shit is exclusive.
its a headache. i don’t even really get into it anymore because the game is completely different now. anything remotely decent requires you to join a raffle and/or camp out to pay like 2-300+ dollars. everyone is trying to flip sneakers.

that’s a nice collection you have there. the way i see it, since my brother and i are 26 and 27, there were a ton of shoes that i wish i could’ve had back in elementary (Griffey’s, Penny’s, Uptempos, Jordan XI’s). To me, those were some of the golden days when it game to shoe collecting. Thankfully, Nike does retro the kicks and i have been able to capitalize on every shoe i always wanted except for those damn jordan 11’s. i don’t camp out or anything like that for them, but even eastbay started having a waiting process when trying to get them(up to 3 hours just to checkout for a pair of kicks!?) Shoe collecting is a hobby of mine, but i am very selective. They are symbolic to my days growing up as a kid and even now. If you truly like the shoe, buy them and wear them proudly.

I think I have like 3 pairs of shoes I wear regularly and they are all black. I need a nice pair for work, my old school 80’s looking shoes for going out and one pair for yard work. Anyone who needs clothing/shoes/style to get girls is trying too hard. You need confidence and a shower, that’s it.
