When people say a game is random, they don’t mean every aspect of the game is random. I don’t play Marvel, but I do play 3s, and I recognize there is lots of randomness in 3s.
I play Marvel because 3S is too unbalanced and too random.
In Marvel you can make up for a single character’s balance with team work and it adds another aspect aside from trapping and runaway that 3S doesn’t have, which is speed. Some things are just too fast for some people and they get pissed off and leave to slower games.
I can see why a beginner such as yourself may see Marvel as random, but let me ask you this. If Marvel is so random, why was the same person winning evo pretty much every year? If it’s so random, doesn’t that mean someone else should have won? In Marvel there is a small selection of top players while there are many, if not hundreds, of good 3S players. Doesn’t that make 3S random?
In 3S, since it lacks all that I already listed in Marvel, when a single character is unbalanced, the result is much more noticable. If you’re a decent player you should be able to comprehend what I’m talking about.
On a side note, I play both Marvel and 3S.

I Feel That Street Fighter Focuses And Portrays The Characters As They Should Be With Minimal Background Movements. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, There Are 5,000,000 Things Going On At Once, With Less Focus On The Important Things, Such As The Characters. This Is Truly Why I Feel Games Like Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 And Super Smash Bros. Melee Are Random. It’s Not That My Brain Can’t Handle It, It’s That It Feels Less Like A Focused Game And More Like A “freakshow” Of Too Many Things, Which Makes It Feel Inferior To Games Such As Street Fighter Iii.

I think randomness and strategy must be in a game in order to be good. I mean, if a game is too random as someone said there would be no top players and if the game is too strategic the smartest one would always win.

Last time I checked Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike was considered the best fighting, if not the best game of all time. SFIII is the best.
