First off, they owe every fan of every franchise that isn’t Monster Hunter an apology… Them fuckers need to take out an ad on all the major gaming sites and Famitsu and issue a long apology letter for all their fuck ups.
They owe Mega Man fans the most- Give us a Mega Man game that doesn’t look like it was made in 1989- Since they obviously can’t do it, team with Nintendo to get it done. Mega Man Legends 3 needs to be done properly and issue another apology for shitting on the fanbase and blaming them for CAPCPOM cancelling it. Stop shoving Zero into everything. Just. Stop. It.
They owe Devil May Cry fans an apology for all the trolling and insulting they did during the DmC bullshit. They need to mend bridges with Kamiya and the Platinum Games team and let them do what they do best. While they’re at it, let those guys finish the Viewtiful Joe trilogy the way it deserves to be finished.
They owe Darkstalkers fans an apology for holding a new installment hostage behind a half-assed re-release.
They owe Breath of Fire fans. They owe RE fans. They owe MvC fans. They even owe dumbass SF fans that keep buying Ono’s half-assed excuses and trolling.
They owe everyone an apology, first and foremost. Then they need to drop the stupid pride and admit to their limits and build bridges with people that actually can make compelling software using the Scrooge McDuck sized Money Bin of great IPs they own.
Like I said, Capcpom is the Vince McMahon of Gaming Companies… These mofos are stacked with great potential, and keep wasting it on shoving Roman Reigns and John Cena, er, Resident Evil and SF out there every time they get backed into a corner.
Warner Bros. should buy out Capcom and give the Street Fighter franchise to Netherrealm studios. Or Namco can absorb Capcom. Akuma looks good in Tekken 7
Ok, I’m on board with that - Capcom admits they’re in the shit, become a division elsewhere; untouched, but bankrolled by a bigger company so they can keep making the games people like. All good stuff.
Now, at what point does it become Capcom’s fault that gamers are buying a game that’s been in the public eye for 6 months, with a pretty comprehensive disclosure of their rollout plan, and acting shocked when they boot it up.
It had the 3 modes I wanted, I bought it, I like it, it had everything I expected it to. Presumably everyone else has had the same run up to SFV as me, some of them didn’t like it, but bought it anyway and are now pissed?
Yep, Sony can’t afford Capcom. But Microsoft can afford Capcom easily but again, what for ? All their most known franchise are dead, they killed them.
All those things are true, but none of those option would save them in their actual state because neither of those games would sell enough to make big money. I keep hearing about Devil May Cry, but even a perfect Dmc won’t sell enough to be profitable.
This has already been said but basically. Capcom has a ton of beautiful franchises. And it’s like they’re bending over backwards to ruin them. It takes hard work to mess these games up. They’ve been doing a good job.(at pissing fans off)
I like Onimusha. But if capcom ever said they were gonna make more Onimusha games. I’d be more afraid than hype. I’m worried about resident evil 7. When they make games now, My natural instinct isn’t to get hype, my reaction now is to worry that they’ll find a way to mess it up. stahp it capcom stahp!
By the way, I’m not pissed at street fighter 5 at all…except bring back Mika’s butt slap. Oh and lol…Chun-li’s boob’s physics are still there…I wasn’t even expecting that.
How about you shut the fuck up and realize that Capcom is a corporation, not a butler whom caters to your every whim.
We live in a time where game development is exponentially time-consuming. Resources are getting expensive, and man-power is getting even more expensive.
This is the reason why SFV runs on the Unreal Engine 4, rather than Capcom’s new next-gen engine. UE4 has extensive documentation, it can compile to DX and OpenGL, it’s scalable for (most) systems, and it’s relatively easier for the development team work with. But even then, it’s still taxing for Capcom’s development team because working with highly detailed character models requires hours upon hours of correctly applying meshes --> texturing work, etc etc.
They have no obligation to apologize to anybody, because at this point, the game industry is basically a fight for survival among these publishers and development studios. This shit pretty much happened ever since the West gained a larger share of the game industry than the East; blame the Anglo Saxons and The Juice.
I’m glad someone else said it first before I had to say it.
Capcom is a video game company. Don’t need no apology from them. You either buy their shit or don’t buy their shit. If you buy their shit it’s because you at least somewhat like what you’re paying for or haven’t decided that you don’t like it enough to sell it yet.
An apology isn’t going to bring all of those franchises back. You still get shit after their apology. I only play fighting games and like the direction V is going over IV so that’s all I need. Their SFV Service roadmap will work better over time for them than what they did in IV.
I’m not one of these old men stuck in the year 2002. This is video games in 2016. Welcome.
That’s why you and Rick ross fan above won’t ever run a company. When you fuck up, either from a business or personal perspective, the first step to get it back is to apologize for the offense. Capcom is a company run by dick head full of themselves like Konami is. You think Konami is the only japanese big name that threat their employees the way they do ? Hell no, Capcom is more or less the same pile of shit.
When I buy a product from a company, I create a bond with them, that’s the basic of good business. I trust them to keep the good move coming. I’m one of their source of income. If they do non-sens shit, once or twice, it’s ok as far as you apologize and do better next time, I’ll still buy the fine goods your produce. If you keep shitting on your source of income without even trying ONCE to look back and speak out about how you fucked up, you lost consumers.
Apologize for apologize is shit. It’s just farts words. But apologize + redeeming moves is everything.
That’s what we’re saying. Apologies don’t do shit. We’re still going to buy what we’re going to buy either way. Did I ask to run a company? I didn’t ask to be a Nascar driver either. Just stating what I don’t want.
What Capcom needs to do with SFV is just fix the issues they started with with this game so it can be the game we want it to be. People will doom and gloom this game, but it already has what it needs to succeed even with a rough start.
The other stuff isn’t going to get fixed with an apology that won’t have any action to, so yes, I do not care for apologies from companies. People I know in real life? Sure. A company that may or may not give you what you want after that apology? Keep it to yourself and provide what the people want. That’s the apology they want. Not words. As long as we keep throwing money at Capcom and going to Evo they really aren’t going to feel super entitled to apologize and that apology won’t fix anything on its own.
I Lol’ed at people who didn’t think another SF4 version was going to come out after AE 2012. The character select screen was uneven, Capcom never does any uneven select screens.
While true, I think Capcom’s output of brand new games this generation really shows it all.
Street Fighter V
Sony had to apparently step in and pay for this to actually happen before 2018. Does not use any of their internal game engines. Game is heavily serviced based.
Dead Rising 3
Microsoft-kun had to pay for this.
Dragons Dogma Online
F2P Online/Japan only game that uses last gen assists. Game is heavily serviced based.
Deep Down
This game and engine with it is probably dead. Was also an online F2P that would likely have been heavily serviced based
Sengoku Basara Yukimura-den
Spin-off that uses last gen assets. Character roster is only two characters compared to the 30+ of the mainline entry games making it look much smaller in scope
Resident Evil Relations 2
Originally a handheld game which doesn’t use next gen assets. Cheap digital focused title
Resident Evil Umbrella Corps
Online only mutiplayer games. Uses last gen assets and even reuses areas from previous games.
Capcom has been an absolute mess this gen. Almost two and a half years in and we get a bunch of games that reuse last gen assets, tons of old games remastered for current gen, SFV which Sony had to pay for, and announcing that they green-lit a remake for RE2. Capcom still haven’t shown a big next gen game that they themselves have paid for and doesn’t have a service model yet.
